DIALLYL DIMETHYL AMMONIUM

Allyl polymers are made by free-radical polymerization of diaHyl compounds, most frequently diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride (DADMAC) [7398-69-8] forming a chain containing a five-membered ring (28) poly(DADMAC) [26062-79-3]. 

Copolymers of diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride [7398-69-8] with acrylamide have been used in electroconductive coatings (155). Copolymers with acrylamide made in activated aqueous persulfate solution have flocculating activity increasing with molecular weight (156). DADM ammonium chloride can be grafted with cellulose from concentrated aqueous solution catalysis is by ammonium persulfate (157). Diallyl didodecylammonium bromide [96499-24-0] has been used for preparation of polymerized vesicles (158). 

The extent of hydrolysis of the copolymers was determined by conductometric titration. The increase in carboxylate content was determined by difference, before and after hydrolysis. (The AMPS content of the polymers, where measured, was determined by colloid titration with poly [diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride].)...

Creme rinses and most hair conditioners are basically compositions containing cationic surfactant in combination with long chain fatty alcohol or other lipid components. Distearyldimonium chloride, cetrimonium chloride, stearalkonium chloride, and behentrimonium methosulfate are typical cationic surfactants used in many of today s hair conditioning products. Amines like dimethyl stearamine or stearamidopropyl dimethylamine are other functional cationics used in these products. Cationic polymers such as Polyquaternium-10 (quaternized ceUulosic) and Polyquatemium-7 (copolymer of diallyl dimethyl ammonium chloride and acrylamide) are also used (more in shampoos than in hair conditioners) however, care must be taken to avoid buildup on hair when formulating with cationic polymers. The polycation used to cover the latex was poly(diallyl-dimethyl-ammonium chloride). As polyanion in PEC formation Na-poly(styrene sulfonate) was employed. It is worth mentioning that currently most of the works in the literature are devoted to the study of multilayers of synthetic poly electrolytes. Some iconic examples of these systems are multilayers of type (PDADMAC + PSS)n (PDADMAC poly(diallyl-dimethyl-ammonium chloride), and (PSS poly(4-sty-rene sulfonate of sodium)) where the subindex n indicates the number of bilayers in the multilayer [80-82] or (PAH - - PSS) (PAH poly(aIlylamine hydrochloride)) [83]. However, there is a growing interest in the last years on the fabrication of biocompatible systems, e.g. biomacromolecules [84, 85]. Some examples are multilayers of type (CHI - - HEP)n (being CHI Chitosan and HEP Heparin) [86] (PLL + HA)n (PLL is poly(L-lysine) and HA is hyaluronic acid) or (PLL + PGA)n (PGA is poly(glutamic acid)) [87, 88].
