Continuous improvement system

In 1997, Clariant started to focus on the continuous improvement process (CIP) in many areas to optimize effectiveness on a permanent basis. A continuous improvement system consists of several elements a dedicated organization, a comprehensive KPI system, a target-setting process, a set of tools, and, finally but importantly, the right mindset. [Pg.249]

It requires the implementation of a continuous improvement system through the use of feedback... [Pg.27]

In addition to or in place of DO IT, organizations are encouraged to use their existing continuous improvement systems, such as Dem-ing s Plan, Do, Study, Act—PDSA, to improve their behavioral safety process (Deming, 1986). This helps to integrate the behavioral safety process into the management system and culture. Two important related points to keep in mind ... [Pg.269]

The framework is complemented by the utilization of a continuous improvement system, containing a plan-do-check-act cycle. This steadily applied tool helps to achieve an improvement of the entire SRM process. [Pg.147]

With the wealth of infonnation contained in such two-dimensional data sets and with the continued improvements in technology, the Raman echo and quasi-echo techniques will be the basis for much activity and will undoubtedly provide very exciting new insights into condensed phase dynamics in simple molecular materials to systems of biological interest. [Pg.1213]

Staged reactions, where only part of the initial reactants are added, either to consecutive reactors or with a time lag to the same reactor, maybe used to reduce dipentaerythritol content. This technique increases the effective formaldehyde-to-acetaldehyde mole ratio, maintaining the original stoichiometric one. It also permits easier thermal control of the reaction (66,67). Both batch and continuous reaction systems are used. The former have greater flexibiHty whereas the product of the latter has improved consistency (55,68). [Pg.465]

Continuous Saponification Systems. A relatively recent innovation in the production of soap, these systems have led to improved manufacturing efficiency and considerably shorter processing times. There are a number of commercial systems available even though these systems are different in design aspects or specific operations, they all saponify fats and oils to finished soap using the same general process (Fig. 3). [Pg.153]

It is based on a philosophy of continuous improvement and partnership. The intent is to establish dialogue and feedback for a clearer understanding of requirements and capabilities. The system has several basic steps ... [Pg.179]

The company has shown adequate evidence that a well-defined system is in place and documented which addresses the area in question. Ultimate goals may not have necessarily been reached however, the company is well on their way towards continuous improvement for the specific question/area. [Pg.181]

QRA results can guide decision makers in their quest for continuous improvement in risk reduction, but zero risk is an unattainable goal. Any activity involves some risk. Even if it were hypothetically possible to eliminate the risk of every accident scenario in a QRA, some risk would still remain because no QRA examines every possible accident scenario. At best a QRA identifies the dominant contributors to risk from the system as it existed at the time of the analysis. Once those are eliminated, other minor risk contributors (including many that were left out of the original QRA because they were negligible contributors, as well as new risks introduced by changes to eliminate the original risks) remain as the new dominant risk contributors. [Pg.8]

There are a number of occasions where a transparent plastics material which can be used at temperatures of up to 150°C is required and in spite of its relatively high cost, low impact strength and poor aging properties poly-(4-methylpent-1 -ene) is often the answer. Like poly(vinyl chloride) and polypropylene, P4MP1 is useless without stabilisation and as with the other two materials it may be expected that continuous improvement in stabilising antioxidant systems can be expected. [Pg.273]

Are continuous improvement measures and methodologies employed and do these cover all aspects of the quality system ... [Pg.79]

Delphi Chassis Systems will provide products and services to global markets that will meet or exceed customer expectations through people, teamwork, and continuous improvement. [Pg.92]

The starting point in building this system of values is self analysis. It is of little use to declare a policy of continual improvement if the will to implement it does not exist. Many organizations are content to meet the specification every time and, once achieved, believe they have made all the improvement to which resources should be committed. There are four questions that each manager should be able to answer ... [Pg.110]

You need an improvement system that causes improvement opportunities to be identified. Relying on chance encounters will not create the conditions needed for continuous improvement. The data that needs to be analyzed will be generated by a particular process and this process governed by particular documented procedures. By having already placed instructions in these procedures for certain data to be transmitted to your data analysts, you can cause opportunities to be identified. Other opportunities that are less dependent on product or process data may arise from the audit process and particular projects such as benchmarking, customer and supplier surveys. [Pg.112]

The standard requires the supplier to evaluate the performance of the quality system to verify the effectiveness of its operation. It also requires the results to be used for continuous improvement or corrective action as appropriate. [Pg.215]

Do not comply with the health and safety standards of your industry Do not comply with the relevant environmental regulations Do not have a system to assure the quality of supplies Are not committed to continuous improvement Are financially unstable... [Pg.314]

An inventory management system should be established - meaning set up on a permanent basis to meet defined inventory policies and objectives approved by executive management. It should be documented - meaning that there should be a description of the system, how it works, the assignment of responsibilities, the codification of best practice, procedures, and instructions. The system should be planned, organized, and controlled in order that it achieves its purpose. A person should therefore be appointed with responsibility for the inventory management system and the responsibilities of those who work the system should be defined and documented. Records should be created and maintained that show how order quantities have been calculated in order that the calculations can be verified and repeated if necessary with new data. The records should also provide adequate data for continual improvement initiatives to be effective. [Pg.480]

We have all the components for continuous improvement. What we don t have is a comprehensive management system that incorporates all of these components and maximizes their value to the company as a whole. [Pg.41]

Many companies have adopted Total Quality Management as a way to promote continuous improvement in a broad range of business applications. TQM considers all business activities as processes, each one of which involves specific customer-supplier relationships. These relationships may be entirely internal, defined in terms of the process under study. For example, delivering efficient electronic mail service is a "process" in TQM terms. The "customers" for your company s electronic mail system are the employees who use it the "supplier" may office services, MIS, or other support personnel. [Pg.130]
