Concrete coatings chlorinated rubber

Chlorinated rubber floor paints are probably the most common of the lower-cost floor paints on the market. They produce tough and chemically resistant coatings, but their adhesion to concrete is not always good. They tend to wear off in patches and cannot be considered as a durable floor treatment except under light traffic conditions. However, re-coating is a simple job and floors can easily be repainted over weekend shutdowns, for example. Similar paints based on other resins such as acrylics, vinyls and styrene butadiene are also used. [Pg.103]

Chlorinated rubber See Section 12.3.2. This is used for decoration but also provides a relatively impermeable coating. Its best use is for concrete surfaces that have to be kept clean by regular washing. [Pg.132]

Figure 1 indicates a typical nitroglycerin facility "inside out" wood frame construction at a concrete floor slab. Note that the exterior cant strip, the lead conductive floor cant and the wood cap are all sloped to discourage product build-up and facilitate cleaning. Organic coatings may vary from very dense to rather open for water vapour. A dense coating (ideally without flaws), based on epoxy, polyurethane or chlorinated rubber polymers, may block ingress of aggressive species. Nevertheless, the presence of such a layer strongly hinders the evaporation of the moisture that is present in the concrete at the time of treatment. These single-pack protective coatings, based on chlorinated rubber, are fast drying and give very good water, chemical and corrosion resistance. They are suitable for coating steel and concrete surfaces and are recommended for applications subject to chemically laden atmospheres or in a coastal environment and can be applied by spray, roller or brush.
