System utilities PC interface for an easy management of the stored data files (copy, delete, renatne, compress) and control of the PC status. 

Archive Family - compresses or expands data files for a family. 

The look, or format, of the data, network security, and file transfers is determined by the Presentation layer. It performs protocol conversion and manages data compression. Data translation and encryption are handled at this layer. Also, the character set information is determined at this level. (The character set determines which numbers represent which alphanumeric characters.)... 

Extracted from these comprehensive files for easier access, the compressed ASCII files Warnemuende daily.zip (1947-2006) and Scliwerin daily.zip (1890-2006) contain daily values of the particular weather station for temperature, humidity, precipitation, and air pressure. The monthly data 1948-2006 of coldsum.txt, heatsuml6.txt and heatsum20. txt are derived from the Warnemunde temperature series. They provide the area below the isotherm of O C and above the isotherms of 16°C and 20°C, measured in Kelvin x days (Nehring et al., 1990), see Chapters 4 and 5. 

Integatlon of binary raster images of line drawings in a databank is state-of-the-art and problems related to a pixel representation of Images (facsimile encoding) are well-known. Particularly, compression of the voluminous data files is needed. 

It is important to note that although the size of the JCAMP-DX file is substantially reduced by use of the ASDF compressed data format there is absolutely no loss of data resolution. 

Specific requirements and priorities for code usability improvements were identified from a series of user surveys and the initial results of an independent peer review of the code. These improvements are focused primarily on the reduction of overall analysis costs associated with plant system analysis or the addition of specific user requested features. They include (a) changes to reduce numerical instabilities and water property or other state failures, (b) changes in input/output processing to reduce user errors and to compress output files, and (c) the addition of a data link between SCDAP/RELAP5/M0D3, PATRAN, and ABAQUS. 

The conditions of these target appHcations are fulfihed by WORM-disks. Apart from data compression on a smah volume, WORM filing systems offer the advantage of fast access from the workplace at ah times, including a simplified document search and retrieval strategy. 

Normally 2D data sets are much larger than can be held in internal memory for display and the data must be reduced (compressed) to fit into the internal data tables. The Resolution command allows you to choose what the resolution will be during the next File/Open operation. Values are 128x128, 256x256 or 512x512 points. 

The recommended initial formulation is displayed, including final tablet weight, recommended tablet diameter calculated compression properties, and all relevant data (Table 7). This is normally printed for inclusion in a laboratory notebook, file, etc. If required, the data may be stored in a database for future reference, necessary if the formulation optimization route is used. 

If it is necessary to upload sequence files, these can be compressed using either WinZip, or the UNIX gzip utility, which will significantly reduce the time taken to upload the data. Submitted files should each contain a single sequence in EMBL or FASTA format. It is preferable to use EMBL/Genbank format for uploaded sequences, because any genes annotated in the feature table will then be displayed by ACT. Should multiple sequences be present in an uploaded file, only the first will be used.
