Company unpredictability

Although pharmaceutical companies attempt to design and develop new chemical entities using rational and logical processes, very few of these compounds become clinically useful drags because unpredictable... 

For Caenorhabditis, Drosophila, and Tribolium castanium, stock centers exist from which particular strains or species may be ordered (Table III). Live representatives of most animal phyla and pure cultures of some protists can be obtained relatively cheaply from supply companies (Table III). Ordering specimens is convenient in that they arrive identified, although voucher specimens should still be preserved (see above). Organisms should be ordered as far in advance as possible, since their appearance in the field may be seasonal or unpredictable. 

However, there have been cases where companies have hired unpredictable workers without a criminal record. The first two commercialized agricultural chemicals. The other two, Jersey Standard and Phillips, concentrated on commercializing petroleum-based gasoline. However, it was the totally unpredictable and extraordinary demand of World War II that created the petroleum side of the polymer/petrochemical revolution. The four companies that had created their learning bases in the 1930s became the first movers in this new industry. 

Indecisiveness on the part of the Mexican government, an unpredictable political climate, as well as a downturn in petrochemicals have caused a lack of interest in purchasing part of the state-owned petrochemicals. Legislation in 1997 allowed private companies to build and operate private enterprises, but such ventures depended on basic petrochemicals produced by PEMEX.

Vinorelbine demonstrated important antitumour properties associated with reduced toxic side effects and its application was developed during the 1980 s by the French pharmaceutical company Pierre Fabre Medicaments, under the commercial name Navelbine . Vinorelbine is now widely used in the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer and breast cancer, and several other potential indications are under clinical investigation, like lymphoma, esophageal cancer and prostatic carcinoma [16, 22, 23], Furthermore, it has been proved that vinorelbine is well absorbed orally with no unpredictable toxic effects and an oral formulation of the drug was registered in France in 2001 [13, 16]. The main side effect of vinorelbine is hematological toxicity. 

But no matter the field in which you are interested, it helps to know that a number of variables—or unpredictable factors—come into play when looking for a job.
