Communities enabling

This system is an industrial microcomputer-based system with an user program support SoFIC (Software for Industrial Controller) implementing control algorithms primarily of logical and regulation character. The use of efficient communications enables to build remote complexes ranging from middle to large control systems. [Pg.27]

Hienerth, C. and Lettl, C. (forthcoming), "Exploring how peer communities enable lead user innovations to become the industiy standard," Journal of Product Innovation Management... [Pg.186]

Peer-to-peer communication enables communication between two devices without a central computer system. [Pg.634]

The community, knowledge-generating institutions (entities proposing solutions) and the executing agencies (authorities, public and private instimtions, etc.) have to be engaged in this task. The interaction with the community enables a collective and not individual production and it makes each person feel part of the project (Mucho et al. 2005). [Pg.82]

The system is driven by a software/working under window and rurming on personal computer. The system is based on using dialogue boxes which enable the user-software communication. The as-built system leads the operator step by step in its verification operations by indicating him the operations to perform. The system records the measurements results and stores them in the memory. [Pg.703]

Each transputer is a microprocessor with its own memory banks and its own built-in operating mode similar to a conventional microprocessor, but a transputer has additional input and output channels enabling it to communicate with other transputers. For example, in one simple mode, five transputers could be coupled so that four of them were carrying out operations at the same time (in parallel) but controlled by the fifth. [Pg.420]

The widespread availabiHty of electrical energy completely transformed modem society and enabled a host of breakthroughs in manufacturing, medical science, communications, constmction, education, and transportation. Centralized fossil fuel-powered, steam-turbine-based power plants remain the dominant means of electricity production. However, hydropower faciHties such as the 1900-MW Hoover Dam Power Project located on the Arizona—Nevada border, commissioned by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation during the 1930s, have also made significant contributions. [Pg.1]

The pareto chart, tool number six, is a special type of histogram (48) where the frequency data is grouped in order of decreasing occurrence or other measures of importance rather than in sequential or numerical order. The chart, an example of which is shown in Figure 6, illustrates the causes in decreasing order of importance. It enables the improvement effort to be focused where it can have the most impact and is an effective management communication tool. [Pg.371]

The networking of personal computers has continued and has enabled the sharing of expensive hard-copy output devices and other peripherals and has provided the significant benefit of faciUtating the transfer of data between computers. Joint authorship of technical articles is a quick and easy process with networked computers. The interappHcation communication that today links appHcations within a single computer will transparentiy link appHcations on networked computers. Voice-annotated documents are already available. [Pg.87]

The holistic thermodynamic approach based on material (charge, concentration and electron) balances is a firm and valuable tool for a choice of the best a priori conditions of chemical analyses performed in electrolytic systems. Such an approach has been already presented in a series of papers issued in recent years, see [1-4] and references cited therein. In this communication, the approach will be exemplified with electrolytic systems, with special emphasis put on the complex systems where all particular types (acid-base, redox, complexation and precipitation) of chemical equilibria occur in parallel and/or sequentially. All attainable physicochemical knowledge can be involved in calculations and none simplifying assumptions are needed. All analytical prescriptions can be followed. The approach enables all possible (from thermodynamic viewpoint) reactions to be included and all effects resulting from activation barrier(s) and incomplete set of equilibrium data presumed can be tested. The problems involved are presented on some examples of analytical systems considered lately, concerning potentiometric titrations in complex titrand + titrant systems. All calculations were done with use of iterative computer programs MATLAB and DELPHI. [Pg.28]

In addition to understanding the PSM system and its implementation, in-hou e trainers need skills development training to enable tiiem to fulfill their roles effectively. Everyone has had the dismal experience of listening to speakers or teachers whose command of their subject may be excellent, but who are incapable of conveying it in a useful, much less interesting, manner. To help avoid this, be selective in recruiting in-house trainer candidates the best people for this task have confidence, enthusiasm, and an ability to communicate well. [Pg.170]

For each subset of task steps that have been defined, the analyst first asks if any steps in the group involve any of the activities implied by the error categories, for example, action, checking, communication etc. If an activity does not occur within the task steps being considered, then this is not considered further at this stage. This enables groups of task steps to be eliminated at an early stage of the analysis, to reduce the number of questions that need to be asked later. [Pg.192]

The microprocessor should also be able to support modem communication with remote computers. This feature will enable multiple plant operation and direct access to third party diagnostic and analysis support. Data can be transferred anywhere in the world using this technique. Not all predictive maintenance systems use a true RS 232 communications protocol or support modem communications. These systems can severely limit the capabilities of your program. The various predictive maintenance techniques will add other specifications for an acceptable data acquisition unit. [Pg.807]

In contrast to 2,3-dioxygenases, the related ipso/ortho oxygenation of aryl carbox-ylates has received considerable less attention and has hardly been utilized by the synthetic community, so far. Biooxidation of benzoic acid and P-naphthalene carboxylate provide access to corresponding 1,2-dihydroxylated dihydroaryl compounds in excellent stereoselectivity (Scheme 9.35), analogous to TDO- and NDO-mediated ortho/meta oxygenations. Whole-cell-mediated biotransformations were performed with mutant strains of Rahtonia and Pseudomonas and enable access to preparative quantities in >5 gl titers [261,262]. [Pg.262]
