Color coating

Aluminum is used in the home as household foh (0.18 mm thick), cooking utenshs (the first commercial use of aluminum), refrigerators, air conditioners, appHances, insect screening, and hardware. It is also used for toys, sporting equipment, lawn furniture, lawn mowers, and portable tools. In many of these apphcations, anodized or colored coatings are employed for decorative purposes. [Pg.126]

These overtone stains are normally composed of pigments, oils, solvents, and driers. The important quaHty of glazes and wiping stains is the abiHty to apply a color coat which can be wiped on and then highlighted to add depth and contrast to the overaU appearance of the finish. [Pg.338]

For RRIM-based composites, the main benefit is the case with which the properties can be varied across a wide range. Decorative finishes can be applied to RRIM molding by painting or, where color matching between components is less important, by self-coloring. However, color coating of the mold surface prior to RIM provides a better finish. [Pg.818]

The need to paint the blends has also resulted in new painting systems. Recently, a nonpolar color coat based on a hydrogenated polybutadiene diol and melamine resin for TPO bumper fascia was invented. The breakthrough technology allows the elimination of the TPO pretreatment step such as adhesion promoter, flame, or plasma during manufacturing. The paintability of two different types of E-plastomers was evaluated. The olefinic white paint was found to provide excellent paint adhesion for both types of metallocene plastomers. Paint peeling was not observed in any of the test... [Pg.178]

Glazes are thin, transparent coatings (colored or colorless) fused on ceramic materials. Vitreous enamels are thin, normally opaque or semiopaque, colored coatings fused on metals, glasses, or ceramic materials. Both are special glasses but can contain little silica. They have typically low melting points and are often not easily mixed in with more traditional glasses. [Pg.394]

The term varnish is used to describe the hard, amber-colored coating of fuel oxidation products adhering to engine components. The term sludge is used to describe the heavy, dark-colored deposits which settle from solution out of the fuel. Sludge can accumulate in areas of low turbulence and act as a prime site for initiating corrosion. [Pg.108]

PbS holds the honor of being the first reported compound to be deposited by CD. In 1869, Puscher described a new and cheap process, without using dyes, to coat various metals with splendid Instrons colors [1], This involved deposition from a thiosulphate solution of lead acetate (and also, in the same paper, from Cu and Sb salts to give presumably corresponding sulphides). These shiny, colored coatings prompted further studies in this process, both to expand the process to other metal snlphides and to nnderstand the process. These studies are discussed in Section 5.2.1. [Pg.201]

Subsequently, a second coat, often a pigmented color coating, is applied if desired. The next coat is a sealer, followed by a topcoat. An example of a UV curing process in wood coating is in Figure 7.1. [Pg.131]

In the early 1950s it seemed that the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry was composed of a number of eccentric individuals who had considerable expertise in, for example, color coating tablets but who were unwilling to share their technology. Every company had its own experts and they were jealously guarded and protected. Unfortunately difficulties arose when these individuals retired or were, rarely, promoted since there were only inadequate records or, in some cases none whatsoever. There was also no lateral movement of the technical knowledge, with inevitable problems. [Pg.381]

Silicon, diamond, and metal deposition are all examples of elemental deposition. Compounds, particularly oxides, are also deposited by chemical vapor deposition. Some of the important oxides deposited as thin films include SiC>2, BaTiC>3, LiNbC>3, YBa2Cu30,. indium-doped SnC>2, and LiCoC>2. These materials have properties such as superconductivity or lithium ionic conductivity that make their production as thin films a much-studied area of research. If the oxide is to be deposited on the bare metal (e.g., depositing SiC>2 onto Si), chemical vapor deposition is not really needed. Controlling the oxygen partial pressure and temperature of the substrate will produce the oxide film Whether the film sticks to the substrate is another question The production of SiC>2 films on Si is an advanced technology that the integrated-circuit industry has relied on for many years. Oxide films on metals have been used to produce beautiful colored coatings as a result of interference effects (Eerden et al., 2005). [Pg.132]

State the composition the name and amount of each active and inactive ingredient in the drug product in the form in which it is to be distributed (e.g., amount per tablet). Describe the dosage form full details as to type and physical characteristics (e.g. shape, color, coating, and hardness). [Pg.111]
