Polyvinyl coating color

Kollicoat IR is a unique polymer for pharmaceutical applications prepared by a graft polymerization process of polyethylene glycol (25%) with polyvinyl alcohol (75%). Kollicoat IR dissolves quickly in water and aqueous solutions of acid and alkali and reduces the surface tension of aqueous solutions to allow the solutions to have high spray rates. The polymer film is very flexible, not tacky, and easily colored. The polymer can be used as instant release coating, pore former, binder, protective colloid, etc. 

Cd and its compounds find applications in several industrial materials electrode materials in Ni-Cd batteries (about 70% of total produced Cd), pigments in ceramics, glasses, paper, plastics, artists colors (13%), stabilizers for polyvinyl chloride and related polymers (7%), coatings on steel, aluminium, and other nonferrous metals (8%), and specialized alloys (see Alloys) and others (2%).

There are some other ways to apply coatings without the use of solvents. Plastisols315 involve the use of a paste of polyvinyl chloride particles in a plasticizer. Metal objects dipped in this can then be heated to harden the coating by dissolution of the plasticizer into the polymer. An example would be a wire rack for a dishwasher. Colored paint films can be laminated to plastics such as automobile parts and siding for houses by molding.316 Ideally, the dry paint film would be prepared by extrusion or other means that avoided the use of solvent. CdS is used in the semiconductor industry (Bruce and O Hare 1996), and also extensively as a pigment. The available pigment colors are mostly yellow, orange, red to Bordeaux red as (Hg,Cd)S and Cd(S,Se), and are used in polystyrene, polyethene, polypro-pene, and polycarbonate. The pigments belong to the most brilliant inorganic compounds and are prepared from either Cd metal or metal salts they are insoluble in water (Bucher et al. 1984). Other important uses of Cd include plating (Cd-coated steel), batteries, and in polyvinyl chloride (as a stabilizer, especially in outdoor window frames). 

Even more popular than dot blots are microtiter plate assays, so-called ELlSAs (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), in which antibody or antigen is loaded into the depression of polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene plates (Kemeny 1994). The depressions are then further coated with antibody, antigen, and enzyme-conjugated antibody in a defined sequence. The antigen is detected via an enzymatic color reaction (Table 6.2). Many companies (Nunc, Flow, Costar, Falcon) offer a palette of products such as 8- or 12-channel pipettes, automatic washing devices, ELISA readers, and so on that make life easier for the friends of ELISA.

To make the color change clearly visible, the surface to which the liquid crystal film is applied must be black or first dyed black. If the liquid crystal is applied to a pale background, light is reflected not only from the liquid crystal but also from the test object. Generally the surface is coated with a black varnish but sometimes black foil is stuck on the surface. In all events the surface must be resistant to liquid crystals or made so by coating with a film not dissolved by liquid crystals such as polyvinyl alcohol [17]. 

An alkyl-aryl phosphite which is used as a color and processing stabilizer in polycarbonate, polyurethanes, ABS polymers, and coatings where regulatory approval for food contact is not required. It is also used as a secondary stabilizer in polyvinyl chloride.
