Code documentation

Perhaps this is valid SAS code, but there is no code documentation to tell the user what any of those macro variables or macro calls actually do. Upon further investigation, we may find that the %MAKECOD macro calls six other SAS macros in a nested fashion. Also, is a %RUN really necessary, or has the programmer developed one too many macros ...

It is important to be able to understand how each business goal relates to each system requirement and how each requirement relates to each facet of the design and ultimately each line of the code. Documenting the refinement relationships between these layers makes it easy to trace the impact of changes in the goals.

Standardized directory structures for source code, documentation hies, hnal executables, conhguration hies, and model inputs/outputs allow tracking the software development process and also help in easily integrating multiple, independently developed modules. Standardized directory structures allow easy detection of con-hicts in the names of functions, scripts, or conhguration hies. 

There is a common perception, but not supported by building code documents (or supported by some outdated documents) that the coefficient of friction for any materials made for walking surfaces should be not less than 0.50, in order to be safe. Not all WPC deckboards would satisfy this (unofficial) criterion. 

This ASTM procedure is not in the mainstream of testing or studying of composite materials. Code documents do not refer it with respect to WPC building materials. 

Laboratory practice should follow Australian Standard 2830.1 Good laboratory Practice, Part 1, Chemical Analysis and the requirements of Section 5 of this Code-Documentation. Particular emphasis should be given to the provision of a comprehensive system of calibration and to the systematic filing of superseded methods and the dating of revisions. Guidelines for the calibration of certain instruments are given in Appendix D.

Most code documents refer to a large body of construction industry standards. The American National Standards Institute and the American Society for Testing and Materials publish enormous volumes of important standards to be followed in designing a building, specifying products, and carrying out construction activities. 

GOTS refers to government created software, usually from another project. The software was not created by the current developers. Source code, documentation, analysis, and test and results are generally included with GOTS software.
