The Guidelines for Preparing Applications for General Marketing or Clinical Investigational Use of a Therapeutic Substance outlined information requirements for applications. Provision was also made for special Australian standards to apply where appropriate. [Pg.654]

As both measurements are made in Australia and the weighing instruments (bathroom and doctor s scales) are calibrated to the mass of the Australian standard kilogram, the traceability chain could have stopped there, along with any comparability. Although the definitions do not mention the SI, and of course for some measurements there are no SI units anyway, the more universal the stated reference is, the more measurements will come... [Pg.206]

Australian standards have been established for both acid and rennet caseins. The standards for acid casein are much the same as those for U.S. casein. Rennet casein usually has between 7.0 and 8.3% ash compared with 2.2% for acid casein. The fact that rennet casein is essentially a calcium caseinate accounts for this comparatively large ash value. [Pg.73]

The mechanical design of the column incorporates three main stages. The first specification is for the materials of construction. Second, the shell and head thickness must be chosen in order to withstand the operating conditions and also extraneous forces. Finally, consideration of the construction and assembly. The design was performed according to the relevent Australian Standard, AS1 210 SAA Unfired Pressure Vessels Code (Ref. Al 0). [Pg.166]

The final safety requirement is a relief line with a relief valve protected by a bursting disc. This disc must be sized according to the Australian Standard AS1 210. [Pg.178]

Shibanuma et al.232 examined the molecular structures of starch isolated from three Japanese wheat varieties, one Australian standard white wheat and one US western white wheat. The data presented in Tables 10.9 and 10.10 again indicate that the properties and structural features of amylose and amylopectin are dependent on the starch source. The molecular sizes of amylose and amylopectin were larger in the US wheat compared to the corresponding starch fractions from the Australian and Japanese wheat starches. Among the five wheats, the two preferred for salt noodles in Japan, the Japanese variety Chihoku and the Australian standard white, contained a higher proportion of branched amylose and a lower number of chains per amylose... [Pg.463]

Most of the organic standards do not adequately address the problem of dryland salinity. The Australian standards mention the issue and express the necessity to combat it. However, they do not explicitly mention the most promising strategies emerging from recent research to fight dryland salinity under Australian conditions. [Pg.121]

The Australian standard for Melaleuca alternifolia tea tree oil sets levels for 1,8-cineole that should not exceed 15% and for terpineol-4 that should not be less than 30%. The components of this type of tea tree oil vary considerably owing to the existence of different varieties of the same plant species there are also many chemotypes and it has been shown that even trees growing next to each other can produce oils with differing composition. Imposing chemical standards can encourage adulteration commonly oils of various cultivars and species are blended and terpineol-4 is often added. [Pg.178]

It should be pointed out here that the above quoted limits of minimum cutter width of 3D and the maximum cutter velocity of 0.6 m/s have not yet been accepted universally but Gy4 has published some experimental work to support this recommendation. The US standard ASTM D 2234 recommends the limit of 18 in/s (0.457 m/s) whilst the Australian Standard AS2646 allows cutter velocities up to 1.5 m/s except for secondary (and subsequent) sampling stages when the limit is 0.6 m/s both standards referring to sampling of coal. [Pg.6]

Determination of Cl concentration - in conjunction with the other anions mentioned - involves injecting a finely filtered aliquot (<0.45 pm with <0.2 pm membrane filter preferred) of the 1 5 soil/water extract into an ion chromatograph appropriately configured. The method described is based on O Dell etal. (1984) and Rayment and Higginson (1992). Refer to Australian Standard AS 3741 (ANON 1990), Section 4110 of APHA (1998) and Method D 4327-97 of ASTM (2000) for further details on analysis by ion chromatography. [Pg.107]

Air handling systems, including air ducts, ancillary components, humidifiers and cooling towers should be inspected and maintained in accordance with Australian Standard AS3666-1989 Air Handling and Water Systems of Buildings—Microbial Control. [Pg.280]

Laboratory practice should follow Australian Standard 2830.1 Good laboratory Practice, Part 1, Chemical Analysis and the requirements of Section 5 of this Code-Documentation. Particular emphasis should be given to the provision of a comprehensive system of calibration and to the systematic filing of superseded methods and the dating of revisions. Guidelines for the calibration of certain instruments are given in Appendix D. [Pg.294]

Software development should follow the principles of Australian Standard AS 3563 Software Quality Management System. [Pg.295]

In this Part of the Code, air quality is specified in terms of Australian Standard AS1386-1989 Cleanrooms and Clean Workstations. Reference should also be made to this Standard for guidance on clean space control and on the design, installation, operation and inspection of clean workstations and cleanrooms generally. [Pg.297]

The Australian standard (AS 2159 1995) provides specific settlement criteria of 15 mm and 50 mm at working load and 1.5 times working load respectively. Limiting residual settlements of 7 mm and 30 mm are specified for unloading from working load and 1.5 times working load respectively. AS 2159 further provides for no more than 3 mm creep to be included in the settlement and residual settlement values at working load level. [Pg.177]
