It has been discovered that colloidal sihca having relatively low amounts of alkali metals, provides for colloidal silica which does not aggregate at relatively high solids contents, and thereby reduces deformation and matting of the coating surface. In this way, special formulations using poly disperse colloidal silica have been described that exhibit improved properties (12). 

Ludox TMA silica that has a pH of about 5 at 25 C and has a ratio of silica solids to sodium of 572 is an example of a commercially available colloidal sihca (12).

Uses Dry cleaning solvent for nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, resins, oil, grease, albumin perfume fixative coating compositions for paper, cloth, leather lacquers. 

The high polymerization temperatures (100°-130°C) used by Eber-hardt (6) produced useful polyethylene waxes in the 1000-3000 molecular-weight range, albeit in low yield (Table II). These waxes have a low melt viscosity and are promoted as coating compositions for paper products such as drinking cups and as components of floor polishes.

Toys and other Articles/Materials for Children s Use. Ultramarine pigments are widely used in plastics and surface coatings for toys, children s paints and finger paints, modeling compositions, colored paper, crayons, etc. They comply with major regulations and standards.

Opportunities for use of grafting in biomedical applications, composites technology, and fuel cell membrane development were also discussed.

In the manufacture of amino resins every effort is made to recover and recycle the raw materials. However, there may be some loss of formaldehyde, methanol, or other solvent as tanks and reactors are vented. Some formaldehyde, solvents, and alcohols are also evolved in the curing of paint films and the curing of adhesives and resins appUed to textiles and paper. The amounts of material evolved in curing the resins may be small so that it may be difficult to justify the installation of complex recovery equipment. However, in the development of new resins for coatings and for treating textiles and paper, emphasis is being placed on those compositions that evolve a niinimum of by-products on curing. 

This paper summarizes the recent progress in design and R D status of the SiC/SiC composites for fusion energy applications. Meanwhile, several technologically critical issues that will be solved for fusion applications, such as thermal properties, Pb-17Li compatibility, hermeticity, joining technique and protective coatings are also identified.
