Co-operativity

In co-operation with LM Glasfiber, a complete section of a rotor blade was produced with a number of well defined defects in order to perform an initial sensitivity test by means of ultrasound, vibrations techniques and real-time radiography. Based on the results of this initial test it was found that automated ultrasonic inspection was the best suited teclmique. In co-... [Pg.980]

The scanner has been constructed in modules which, for future applications, makes it easy to increase the length of the scanner for inspection of larger blades, by adding further modules to the system. In co-operation with LM Glasfiber and RIS0 it was decided to construct the first scatmer for inspection of blades with a length of max. 21m. In order to be able to scan primarily the bonded areas from the root to the tip of the rotor blade, a so-called X-unit module was constructed. The movement from the root to the tip of the blade was controlled by the P-scan system. [Pg.982]

At the beginning of 1992, the largest Hquids pipelines in the United States, based on pipeline length, were Amoco Pipeline Co., 19,096 km Mobil Pipe Line Co., 15,026 km Exxon Pipeline Co., 14,983 km and Conoco Pipe Line Co., 12,980 km. Distances do not include 1316 km of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline with multiple ownership. In both 1991 and 1992, the product pipeline company with the most product deHveries was Colonial Pipeline with 104,990,000 m, more than double the amount deHvered by Santa Ee Pacific Pipelines, Inc. The top pipeline in terms of cmde oil deHveries was the Alyeska Pipeline Service Co., operator of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, with movement of 105,735,000 m (3). [Pg.47]

The organizing committee extends a cordial invitation to participate in International conference on Analytical Chemistry and Chemical Analysis (AC CA-05) which is hold in scenic city of Kyiv, Ukraine, from. Septemher 12 to 18,2005. Tills conference belongs to die series of Ukrainian conferences in analytical chemistry established in 1970 by Ukrainian chemical society and chemical division of Ukrainian Academy of. Sciences. AC CA-05 is a 7 conference in analytical chemistry in Ukraine and it is dedicated to the centenary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian scientist, Anatoly K. Babko for his expertise in analytical chemistry and in the chemistry of complex compounds. Tlie current conference is organised by Analytical Scientific Council at Academy of Sciences of Ukraine under collaboration with European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuClicMS) and sponsored by Intemational Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (lUPAC) and by the Intemational Association for the Promotion of Co-operation with Scientists from the New Independent States of the Eormer Soviet Union (INTAS). [Pg.3]

The sorption evaluation of Pd(II) micro-amounts by active coals, ACs, from solutions with 50-500-fold excess of accompanying metals compounds was shown [1]. From the other hand catalytic action of Pd(II) in reaction of Mn(III) reduction by Ck is used for Pd(II) micro-amounts determination by catalytic method [2]. The co-operation of soi ption and catalytic detenuination of Pd(II) in one process was investigated. [Pg.70]

The compressive strength of composites is less than that in tension. Tills is because the fibres buckle or, more precisely, they kink - a sort of co-operative buckling, shown in Fig. 25.5. So wliile brittle ceramics are best in compression, composites are best in tension. [Pg.269]

Antioxidants are today often used in combination. One reason for this is that certain combinations can exhibit in a polymer an effect sometimes found with other additives, that known as synergism. In these circumstances two antioxidants may exhibit a co-operative effect and be more powerful than either antioxidant used alone, even when the total antioxidant concentration is the same. Certain terms are sometimes encountered here and these are defined in Table 7.6. [Pg.141]

When polymer melts are deformed, polymer molecules not only slide past each other, but they also tend to uncoil—or at least they are deformed from their random coiled-up configuration. On release of the deforming stresses these molecules tend to revert to random coiled-up forms. Since molecular entanglements cause the molecules to act in a co-operative manner some recovery of shape corresponding to the re-coiling occurs. In phenomenological terms we say that the melt shows elasticity. [Pg.171]

Co-operation between designer, fabricator and coater is essential if a satisfactory product is to be obtained. The design of any article required to be finished should take into account not only the function of the article and its method of manufacture but also the limitations imposed by the finish. [Pg.385]
