Car applications

Recently the development of Na/S batteries for car applications has been abandoned only Na/S batteries for stationary applications (load leveling) are still under development in Japan. Among the high-temperature batteries, the ZEBRA battery is the only system at present which is being commercialized for car applications. 

An electronic management system has been applied which controls all functions of the battery for its operation. Batteries with about 30 kWh have been built for car applications. Due to the permanently increasing demands of the car industry, the performance of the batteries has been improved significantly. As an example, the data of two Silent Power batteries, the old type Mk4 and the recent type Mk6, are compared in Table 4. 

In [28] the performance of OS-CFAR in a 77GHz radar sensor for car application is examined. In the automotive radar application case multiple target situations occur almost always.

Transportation applications include exterior automotive body components, non-appearance automotive parts, structural components, plus numerous truck, bus and rail car applications. Unsaturated polyester resins compete on the basis of weight reduction, corrosion resistance and parts consolidation. Thermoplastic resins, however, offer steep competition.

Blends of EPDM rubbers with polypropylene in suitable ratios have been marketed as thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), also commercially known as thermoplastic polyolefin elastomers (TPO). These heterophasic polymers, characterized by thermoreversible interaction among the polymeric chains, belong to a broad family of olefinic alloys that can now be produced directly during the polymerization phase, unlike blended TPE and TPO, and various compositions (with various compounding additives) can be formulated which are primarily tailored to meet different requirements of most of car applications.
