Kamchay lies at the edge of the Bokor National Park, upstream from a modest local tourist spot, Teuk Chuu Falls. An environmental impact assessment (EIA) for the project was carried out in the 1990s by three Canadian companies, but the Canadian International Development Agency, faced with criticism by environmental NGOs, withdrew its funding for a feasibility study. In 2002 a Japanese organization completed a feasibility study, and in 2006, Sinohydro commissioned another EIA, but neither has been made public. It is not known whether Sinohydro followed its recommendations. Nonetheless, Cambodia s National Assembly, dominated by... [Pg.1245]

Various improvements in the sulfur dioxide reduction processes have been commercialized, including the Canadian International Paper Process (1946) and the Kesting, Persson, and Holst processes. A variation combining both chloride and sulfur dioxide reductant processes was developed and patented by KemaNord AB (47). [Pg.482]

One such contact was made in the fall when C. B. Thorne, Technical Director of the Canadian International Paper Co., visited Europe. Mark and Thorne at Thorne s invitation met in Dresden. They discussed Mark joining the company staff as Manager of Research. Thorne realized that the company laboratories had been outdated by the recent developments in polymer... [Pg.78]

A final mixing system worthy of mention is that used by the Canadian Armament Research and Development Establishment and Bristol-Aerojet, which is a horizontal ribbon mixer. In this case, the blades carry the material from the center to the ends of the mixer and return it by internal spirals along the center shaft. This mixer is noted for its rapid incorporation of solids and the ease by which material is discharged as compared with the other fixed bowl, batch mixers. A comparison of typical batch mixers is shown in Table II. [Pg.187]

Canada has now had 25 years of almost uninterrupted economic growth. In other words, there has been neither a major economic depression arising from internal domestic causes nor one developed in sympathy with continental or world events. Neither has there been an international armed conflict of sufficient proportion to cause world, continental, or Canadian economic depression of course, it is generally... [Pg.222]

The design of a multi-purpose plant for the continuous extraction of liquids with supercritical fluids is presented. To provide flexibility in order to treat different feedstocks, a modular concept was developed based on experience gained in the operation of bench-scale and pilot plants. Four test systems were chosen in order to determine the proper dimensions for the equipment. Based on experimental data, e.g. measurements of flooding points and maximum flows for various column internals, the design pressure and temperature and heat exchange requirements were determined. The plant was built by a German manufacturer and was operated successfully by a Canadian company in Edmonton, Alberta. [Pg.499]

Basic professional development courses offered by SCHC are MSDS and Label Preparation Workshops Science, Toxicology and Industrial Hygiene for Hazard Communication and Hazard Determination Risk Assessment. Regulatory courses include Canadian Mexican Hazard Communication Pesticide Consumer Product Labeling Component Disclosure Requirements European Union Hazard Communication Transportation Classification Labeling HMIS/NEPA Labeling and International Chemical Control Laws. [Pg.2956]
