Bulk packs

Desiccant grade activated alumina is a highly porous form of aluminium oxide. It has the appearance of white chalky beads. Standard stock sizes have 2 - 5 mm or 5 - 8 mm. beads. An adsorbent from liquids and gases it is supplied usually in bulk packs. 

Moisture and oil determination by NMR with respect to bulk/packing density or sample weight. 

Aseptic bulk packing has now become a well-established means of packing concentrated or RTD juice. Containers are available from as little as a 5 1 bag-in-a-box to be dispensed from a bar up to a 1 000 1 bin in a 1 m3 pallet box.

While the experiment has been tested on the SepPak brand, equivalent solid-phase extraction devices should also work in this experiment. As an alternative, homemade columns can be constructed from Pasteur pipets plugged with glass wool at the outlet tip and dry-packed with bulk packing material (refer to Chapter 6 for details). Silica gel (200 mesh) can be purchased from many supply houses. Preparative Ci8 packing of 50 to 100-jCtm particle size is available from many chromatography suppliers. 

There are basically two approaches in stretch wrapping turntable and overhead rotary arm. The turntable stretch wrap system is accomplished by rotating the load on a mechanically driven platform and applying multiple layers of film. With overhead rotary arm systems, the unit load remains stationary and the film application unit spirals around the load. On some units, a top platen can also be added to the rotary arm system to ensure that cases and the top slip sheet on a bulk pack remain stable during the stretch wrap operation.

The sale of a pharmaceutical product may be by retail (community pharmacy), wholesale, health centre, hospital, dental, health care centres, special homes, home trade or export, etc. These may be further broken down into ethical and over the counter (OTC) sales. Ethical products are normally available only through or via the profession, i.e. pharmacist, doctor, dentist, nurse, veterinarian, etc. They may be supplied either as a bulk pack which is then broken down into a smaller quantity at the patient-dispenser interface or as an original pack whereby a course of treatment is supplied in the pack as produced by the pharmaceutical manufacturer (also called patient pack or unit of use pack). 

It should be noted that the volume resulting from the use of blister and strips will be more significant in the warehousing activities of the pharmaceutical supplier and the wholesaler. It will probably be less critical than the community pharmacist envisages, since lower stock levels of OPDs are likely to be kept compared with a bulk pack of 500, 1,000, etc., and the dispensing containers which have to be kept for their use. An actual reduction in space could occur as cartons stack better than bottles, particularly if the bottles are not contained in cartons. 

Since the monitored dosage systems conflict somewhat with the OPD concept (a pharmacist does not like transferring products from blisters and strips) there may still be a need for a bulk pack, particularly if the use of these dosage systems continues to expand. 

Filling via slat counters into bulk packs brought speed capabilities in excess of 20,000 items (tablets and capsules) per minute, thus making small OPD type products both comparatively slow and relatively costly. 

When converter systems first appeared on vehicles, manufacturers were divided in their approach to catalyst supports. (FIGURE 1) But one commonality was the use of porous ceramics. One system utilizes a large number of small, highly porous alumina pellets on which the precious metal is impregnated. These are bulk packed into a compact container which is typically found under the floor boards of the vehicle. (FIGURE 2)... 

Buy in bulk packs one large pack uses less packaging than two small units.
