Floor boarding

C and 21.4 °C and latent heat of 136 kJ/kg, were installed under the OA floor board with a thickness of 25 mm in 12.5 kg/m2 (Figure 214). The authors made some experiments under different conditions and explain one successful example. 

At this moment, the price of the used granular PCM exceeds 10 EURO/kg due to the test production stage. Our calculation showed the cost payback time can be less than 10 years when the PCM cost would be reduced to 4 EURO/kg under the electrical utility rate condition in Japan. Further cost reduction will be needed to promote the actual system. In addition we have to care of flammability of paraffin wax as PCM in use of inside the buildings. Fortunately, PCM is placed under the OA floor board made of fireproof cement-mortal and above the concrete slab in this system. It may not have any problems under the Fire Defense Law in Japan. However, further development of noninflammable PCM granules, for example micro encapsulation of mixture of inorganic and organic PCM, is required. 

When converter systems first appeared on vehicles, manufacturers were divided in their approach to catalyst supports. (FIGURE 1) But one commonality was the use of porous ceramics. One system utilizes a large number of small, highly porous alumina pellets on which the precious metal is impregnated. These are bulk packed into a compact container which is typically found under the floor boards of the vehicle. (FIGURE 2)...

Inspection and maintenance can help remove tripping hazards. Remove protruding nails and screws or set them even with the floor surface. Repair damaged tiles, floor boards or carpet. Remove unnecessary mats, electrical cords or similar objects that extend across walking zones. If there are temporary electrical or communication cables across a walking zone, tape them to the floor. Use other protections to prevent tripping on them. Route them overhead if possible. 

Note Start at the far end and work toward the decontamination area. Begin with ceilings or the top of walls and work down, cleaning the floor last. Do every inch of window, especially troughs. Use a corner tool to clean where floor meets baseboard and all the cracks in floor boards. Use the brush tool for walls and move slowly and carefully to... 

The Crystal Palace was unique not only in its structural details but also in its maintenance and decoration. The floor, for example, was laid with a space between the boards so that dirt and debris could fall or be swept into the cracks, preserving a neat and dustless promenade, noor-sweeping machines were originally to be used to push the dust into the half-inch spaces between the boards, but they proved unnecessary as women s dresses accomplished the same end. Small boys were employed to crawl beneath the floor boards and collect bits of paper that might otherwise accumulate and present a Are hazard.
