Fu and Mak [238,239] dealt with acyl alkyl esters of amino acids with various combinations of acyl and alkyl moieties in comprehensive studies. They evaluated and determined optimal conditions for their preparation they selected acylation with the aid of the anhydride or chloride of the appropriate acid as the first step. They performed the reaction at 20-30°C with vigorous stirring for 10 min, with subsequent esterification with the appropriate alcohol in dry benzene in the presence of Amberlite IR-120 (H+). They further evaluated their retention properties on both Carbowax 20M and GE-XE-60, and the relationships between these properties and their structure. Kolb and Hoser [240] described a microdevice in which the derivatives were prepared with the aid of opened aluminium or gold capsules (20-/J volume) which acted as a microreactor in an automatic capsule—dosage system (MS 41). As an example they demonstrated the application of their device to the preparation of HFB-methyl esters. [Pg.135]

Requiring patients to produce containers when they attend the doctor, who counts the tablets, seems to do little more than show the patient that the doctor cares about the matter (which is useful) and a tablet absent from a container has not necessarily entered the patient s body. On the other hand, although patients are known to practise deliberate deception, to maintain effective deception successfully over long periods requires more effort than most patients are likely to make. The same applies to the use of monitored-dosage systems (e.g. compartmented boxes) as memory aids and to electronic containers that record times of opeiring. [Pg.21]

Repackage product and produce matching placebo Obliterate all product labeling and packaging matching placebo in identical container dosage system Metered-Dose Inhalers ... [Pg.2897]

Packs for the elderly, including monitored dosage systems... [Pg.339]

Since the monitored dosage systems conflict somewhat with the OPD concept (a pharmacist does not like transferring products from blisters and strips) there may still be a need for a bulk pack, particularly if the use of these dosage systems continues to expand. [Pg.373]

The lecithin organogels have also been explored for the delivery of synthetic retinoids for the treatment of topical tumors. Retinoids, being poorly soluble drug, was encapsulated in lecithin organogels. The results showed a slower diffusion of the drug from the organogels as compared to available conventional topical dosage systems. ... [Pg.1059]

General troubleshooting guidelines are provided for chemical dosage systems including tanks, pumps and tank mixers. Not aU problems may be relevant to a particular system. Problems depend on system design and process conditions. [Pg.320]

The SMA mixture is characterised by the higher bitumen content used compared to AC. This provides a longer service life but increases the cost. The incorporation of higher bitumen content is achieved by the addition of inorganic or organic fibres. SMA is produced in typical asphalt plants, but small modification for the provision of the fibre dosage system is needed. SMA is specified by European and American standards. [Pg.273]

A different feeding mechanism was developed in Australia by the author ( AMD [Automatic Microdiet Dispenser], Department of Fisheries, Western Australia, Figs 6.11 and 6.12). In this system, the dosage system is... [Pg.216]
