Storage studies

Avrami and Jackson [38] investigating dextrinated lead azide manufactured during World War II and repackaged in 1953, concluded that 25-year-old azide did not differ from recently manufactured dextrinated lead azide with respect to its sensitivity to impact. [Pg.89]

The only known in situ study [39] of material stored in bulk was conducted on Special Purpose lead azide (Chapter 1), as described in more detail in Section D.4, below. In addition, dextrinated lead azide that had been in storage for 25 years and had been repackaged was tested for suspected sensitivity changes. However, the sensitivity was found to be almost identical to that of a flesh preparation that was tested concurrently [38]. [Pg.89]

A solution to this dilemma is to place soil samples immediately in a freezer located in the field, the temperature of which is continuously monitored, as described previously. Laboratory-prepared storage study samples can then be used to determine test substance stability under freezer storage conditions that match those used in the field and during transportation and final storage. If a valid laboratory storage stability... [Pg.870]

Study indicates that residues are stable, any observed decline in soil residues can then be assumed to have occurred in situ. Details on the conduct of a freezer storage study are given in Section 4. [Pg.871]

To investigate the storage stability of these dyes, a 28-day storage study was undertaken. Filters were spiked and dried by the procedure described in the experimental section. Sixty liters of humidified air (75% relative humidity) were drawn through each spiked filter before storage, using the previously described vacuum pump system. During the... [Pg.29]

A typical feed composition was 1000 g capsul, 2334 g deionized water and 200 g orange oil. The finished powders were stored in amber bottles at -25prior to accelerated storage study and relevant analyses. Particle Size Analysis. To ascertain the effect of atomizer voltage on the particle size, the particle size distributions of three powders were first determined. The Microtrac laser light particle size analyzer (Medallion Laboratories, Minneapolis, MN) was used in this study. The volume percent data over particle diameter ranging 2.8 p. to 176 jii was recorded. Mean value of the volume percent distribution and calculated surface area were also obtained. [Pg.89]

Accelerated Storage Study. Each of the three powders (20g) were transferred to amber glass bottles (2 oz.). These bottles were stored in a constant temperature oven (45 + 1 C). Samples (Ig) were taken after 0, 3,... [Pg.91]

Therefore, a gas chromatographic internal standard method was employed to quantify these two index compounds in the storage study. [Pg.91]

By keeping ethylene concentrations to less than 0.8 ul/1 of air, stem-end decay caused by a species of Fusarium, green mold, loss of orange flavor, and development of off-flavors were minimized. Other volatiles present with and without the ethylene absorber apparently had no effect on quality. Ethylene, produced in copious quantities by rots, enhances respiration and senescence of healthy fruit within the storage facility (281). The importance of ethylene removal has been illustrated also in recent storage studies of lemons in Australia (282, 283, 284, 285). [Pg.211]

The protein in citrus is generally associated with the solid portions of the fruit, i.e., the seeds, flavedo, albedo, chroma-tophores, and pulp. Some of these components find their way into the juice along with the available free amino acids during extraction and processing and storage. Studies conducted in our laboratories (42,43,44) and by others (45) have shown that reductions in the pulp content of juice slow the rate of browning. [Pg.244]
