Brazil university studies

One of the difficulties in getting information on research already carried out in Brazil is that the dissertations of graduate students in the universities are seldom published in indexed journals. There has been no attempt to compare the cerrados with other savannas in South America, other continents, or Amazon forests because the information available from the cerrados on quantitative aspects of nutrient cycling in natural ecosystems is very meager (Baruch et al. 1996). There are several important studies reported from the Amazon region on nutrient concentrations in plants, litter decomposition, and hydrological cycles over the last couple of... 

Projects relating to the use of bioproducts have been conducted in our laboratory at the Federal University of Sao Carlos in Brazil. Three main projects can be mentioned. The first involves studies on the potential of certain plant species to produce natural products for the control of leaf-cutting ants. The second is on the theme of phytochemistry and chemical ecology, and concerns the search for model eompounds for the development of new insecticides, fungicides and bactericides to control plant pests. And the third concerns a search for antiparasitic natural products. 

Andressa Mota-Lima was bom in Natal, Brazil, in 1981. She completed undergraduate studies in Materials Engineering (2004) at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Master degree from the Federal University of Sao Carlos (2007), and Ph.D. in Physical-Chemistiy from University of Sao Paulo (2012) at the Chemistry Institute of Sao Carlos (IQSC). She worked 18 months in Dr. Eiswirth s group at the Fritz-Haber Institute, Berlin. Currently, she is research fellow in the team headed by Prof. Dr. Ernesto Graizalez. Her main research interest is self-organized dynamic in electrochemistiy.

Pedersoh et al. [6] started from a sample of crack cocaine and hydrolyzed the methyl ester using hot water. The metabohte was synthesized and characterized by 2D-NMR using three advanced techniques for a very thorough study of BEG by NMR (Eigure 19.3).
