The extent of the restricted vision often meant that a man from the heading team had to be deployed as a spotter for the driver, positioning himself in front of the machine and signalling by arm and cap lamp movements to direct the driver s positioning of the drill booms. Given that such machines are tracked (and therefore difficult to manoeuvre accurately in limited space) and that there was often less than a metre clearance on each side of the machine, it is clear that any error on the part of the driver could create considerable risk forthe spotter . Equally, errors in drilling the required firing pattern holes could result in subsequent risks. 

Over the next four years, Houdry, working closely with Sun s engineering team headed by Clarence Thayer, worked to build a commercial plant. The limitations imposed by a static catalyst bed design imposed a major obstacle, particularly in the formation of carbon deposits that fouled the catalyst mass and impeded a continuous system of production. 

This review tries to analyze and evaluate the new phenomena disclosed in this fresh field of polymer chemistry and to outline directions of its further development. The properties of polymeric materials and the methods of their synthesis will be considered only so far as is required for the fulfilment of that task. What is very important in process development is the personnel overlap when changing the scale of the process. The head of the team that is to continue the development of a process should be involved in the research on smaller scale. Also, an important member or head of the team in the smaller scale research should participate in the further step(s) of process development. Often, a parallel operation of teams is required instead of operation in series. A pilot plant, mostly composed of existing equipment items in a company, is often required as the final step in process development. A verification of procedures and models is usually not necessarily the main objective of pilot studies. The most common reason for manufacture at pilot scale is the production of kilograms of the product for market purposes and toxicity tests. A close interaction between chemists and chemical engineers is necessary at all stages of process development. 

This series of texts is a result of an initiative by the Committee of Heads of Polytechnic Chemistry Departments in the United Kingdom, A project team based at Thames Polytechnic using funds available from the Manpower Services Commission Open Tech Project has organised and managed the development of the material suitable for use by Distance Learners . In fact, it is important that a client not depend on how the state is implemented. Back in the olden days of programming when a team would write a software system from scratch, every part of the system was accessible to every other part. You just had to stick your head above the partition to shout across at whoever was designing the bit whose state you wanted to change. But in recent times, software has joined the real business world of components that are brought together from many sources, and you shouldn t interfere with another object s internal works any more than you should write directly on the hotel s reservation book (or the manager s tie). It would be wrong and inflexible to make assumptions about how they work. 

In 1994 and 1995, H-Power (Belleville, New Jersey) headed a team that built three PAFC/battery hybrid transit buses (24,25). These 9 meter (30 foot), 25 seat (with space for two wheel chairs) buses used a 50 kW fuel cell and a 100 kW, 180 amp-hour nickel cadmium battery.

Notice the fluid thinking in the T and L of his name and the high t-bars throughout the writing. 

The medical department is usually headed by a senior pharmaceutical physician (the medical director), who is supported by a team consisting of other physicians, graduates and administrative staff. The non-medical graduates are normally pharmacists or life scientists and, in addition to providing informed scientific input, may look after some administrative areas. In some companies they, rather than the physicians, may be responsible for staff management, thus allowing the physicians to concentrate on their advisory roles. 

Preparation of the patient informed consent sheet is the responsibility of each investigator, although support of the sponsor is requested. The investigator can nominate sub-investigators and other supportive staff for the study and establish a study team. The member list of the study team should be submitted to, and confirmed by, the head of the institute. The investigator should endorse the study protocol and the study contract, and must comply with them. Any deviations from the protocol should be recorded and reported to both the head of the institute and the sponsor. 

In 1993 the Americans established to lUPAC s satisfaction that theirs was the stronger claim, and the team, headed by the veteran Albert Ghiorso, proposed a name for the new element seaborgium, after the discoverer of the first artificial element. 

Tumor-selective destruction has been observed in squamous cell carcinoma patients treated with chemotherapy plus Onyx-015. But, when the virus was given alone, it produced a clinical response in less than 15% of patients. A multinational team of researchers has shown in a phase II trial of Onyx-015 with chemotherapy that the combined treatment was more effective than either therapy alone in patients with recurrent head and neck cancers [4]. 

So when clients asked us Can you help us work as a team we countered with a question of our own Why should you work as a team To our surprise this turns out to be a really useful question. It abandons the automatic assumption that all top groups at the head of their organizations ought to be teams and invites them instead to address the question of what kind of work they should be doing. This is a much better place to begin because teamwork is only one mode of working - it is essential for some kinds of work, useful for other kinds, but a sledgehammer to crack a nut for other tasks, (pp. 34-35)... 

The way these factors have interacted in different localities has resulted in the wide variety of form of service delivery grouped under the heading community teams .
