Conveyor bearings

For ball- or roller-bearing conveyors reduce power requirements on horizontal stretches by 333 - per cent. [Pg.92]

Applications and uses include the following metal and glass replacement in many automotive (door handles/locks, seat belt buckles, fuel/fuel sending systems, gas tank caps, windshield wiper components, window hardware, control cables), industrial equipment (gears, bearings, conveyor links, cams. [Pg.95]

As for natural rubber the most important single outlet is in tyre production but benefits may be obtained in the manufacture of products as diverse as elastic bands, bridge bearings, conveyor belts and pharmaceutical goods. Certain specific attributes of synthetic polyisoprenes have made them attractive to manufacturers. For example, the lack of non-rubbers allows higher resistivity values to be reached in electrical applications and the low modulus provides easy extensibility and therefore comfort for items such as respirator masks and bathing hats. [Pg.258]

Assemblies of small disks are rotated in a planetary movement around a central screw conveyor. The disks are mounted on six hoUow axles and the axles revolve on overhanging bearings from the gearbox at one end of the vessel where they are driven, via a drive shaft, by an electric motor. The filtrate is collected from the disks via the hoUow shafts and a filter valve into a large collecting pipe. The hoUow shafts also collect the water and air from the dewatering process, in another part of the rotational cycle. The number of disks mounted on the shafts can be adjusted for different materials, depending on the required capacity and the cake thickness to be used. [Pg.406]

Power for each Hquid and the soHd phase must be added to get Pp. P, the soHds process power, = T -AN for scroU decanters, where = conveyor torque and AN = differential speed between bowl and conveyor. Pp is the friction power, ie, loss in bearings, seals, gears, belts, and fluid couplings. P, the windage power, = K and fi = viscosity of surrounding gas p = density of gas D = rotor outside diameter N = rpm and K = shape... [Pg.403]

The mechanical design of the idler roUs is a function of the particular service under which the conveyor operates. Minimum industrial standards for roU dimensions, bearings, and appHcation criteria for different service conditions have been estabHshed (14). Idler life is deterrnined by a combination of factors such as bearings, seals, shell thickness, load density, and the operating environment. [Pg.154]

Improved sensors allow computer monitoring of the system for safety and protection of the equipment from damage. Sensors include lubrication-flow monitors and alarms, bearing-temperature sensors, belt scales, rotation sensors, and proximity sensors to detect ore level under the crusher. The latter prevent jamming of the output with too high an ore level, and protect the conveyor from impact of lumps with too low an ore level. Motion detectors assure that the conveyor is moving. Control applied to crusher systems including conveyors can facilitate use of mobile crushers in quarries and mines, since these can be controlled remotely by computer with reduced labor. [Pg.1845]

Comparative costs for conveyor systems can be based only on studies of specific problems. For example, belt-conveyor idlers are available in a range of quahties that may make the best unit cost three times as much as the cheapest. Bearing quahty, steel thickness, and diameter of rolls all affect cost, as does design for easy maintenance and repair. Therefore, it is necessary to make cost comparisons on the basis of a specific study for each conveyor application. [Pg.1912]

Required power is made up of two components, that necessary to drive the screw empty and that necessary to move the material. The first component is a function of conveyor length, speed of rotation, and friction in the conveyor bearings. The second is a function of the total weight of material conveyed per unit of time, conveyed length, and depth to which the trough is loaded. The latter power item is in turn a function of the internaf friction and friciion on metal of the conveyed material. [Pg.1915]

However, rolls are highly prone to loads induced by the process. In most cases, rolls carry some form of product or a mechanism that, in turn, carries a product. For example, a simple conveyor has rolls that carry a belt, which carries product from one location to another. The primary monitoring parameters for process rolls include bearings, load distribution, and misalignment. [Pg.711]

The classifier described above works very well with coarse particles where exact splits are not needed. Typical applications are in connection with ball or rod mills for reduction to particle sizes between 8- and 20-mesh. These classifiers have high capacities they lift coarse solids for return to the mill, so that auxiliary conveyors and elevators are not required. There are other types of classifier that must be usual for close separations with fine particles. One such device is the centrifugal classifier its action bears a strong resemblance to that of the crossflow classifier, but the settling is greatly accelerated by the substitution of centrifugal force for gravitational force. [Pg.160]

The uses of NR are myriad and a complete summary is not really possible. Its unique and excellent properties are utilised in tyres, shock mounts, seals, isolators, couplings, bridge bearings, building bearings, footwear, hose, conveyor belts, plant linings and many other moulding applications. [Pg.86]

One offers oils and other greases to be applied in different process areas in the sugar mill industry. There are around 20 different products, and they are applied in different points like pumps, sugar cane conveyors, bearing turbogenerators, speed reducers and others. The aim is to identify opportunities to apply Chemical Leasing in other points of the process, and identify the payment index (for example per work hours). [Pg.86]

Wood. Although lignum vitae and oil-impregnated maple and oak are useful up to 70°C, they have largely been replaced as bearing materials by porous metals, plastics, and mbber. Typical application of wood bearings are with water and other low viscosity fluids at relatively low speeds in pumps, conveyors, hydraulic turbines, food and chemical processing, and ship propeller shafts (27). [Pg.7]

Common uses include pump bearings for water, gasoline, and solvents having low viscosity high temperatures up to 400°C in conveyors and furnaces and in food, dmgs, and other machinery where oil and grease contamination must be avoided. [Pg.7]

The physical properties of granular materials that bear particularly on their conveying characteristics include size distribution, true and bulk densities, and angle of repose or coefficient of sliding friction, but other less precisely measured or described properties are also of concern. A list of pertinent properties appears in Table 5.2. The elaborate classification given there is applied to about 500 materials in the FMC Corporation Catalog 100 (1983, pp. B.27-B.35) but is too extensive for reproduction here. For each material the table also identifies the most suitable design of screw conveyor of this... [Pg.76]
