Barbiturates Aminophylline

Pethidine Hydrochloride Pethidine hydrochloride solutions are not compatible with barbiturates, aminophylline, morphine sulfate, sulfadiazine sodium, methicilline sodium, nitrofurantoin, phenytoin sodium, heparin sodium, sodium iodide, diethanolamine, sulfafurazol, acyclovir sodium, liposomal doxorubicin hydrochloride, frusemide, imipenem, and idarubicin. Visual incompatibilities are reported with mixtures of pethidine hydrochloride and cefoperazone sodium or mezlocillin sodium, nafcillin sodium and minocycline hydrochloride or tetracycline hydrochloride in 5% glucose injection.82 83... 

Opioids, such as morphine and fentanyl, are safe, whereas there is insufficient data on some other analgesics to be sure of their position. All muscle relaxants are probably safe, although there are insufficient data about most to be completely sure atropine and neostigmine are safe. Drugs which are unsafe or probably unsafe include barbiturates, etomidate, enflurane, alcuronium, mepivacaine, pentazocine, some benzodiazepines (temazepam is safe, other benzodiazepines less certain), calcium channel blockers and aminophylline. 

Morphine Sulfate Morphine sulfate precipitates in alkaline media and drugs that are incompatible with it, including aminophylline, sodium salts of barbiturates, and phenytoin. Precipitate was found after 2 horns when morphine sulfate was formulated with acyclovir sodium.70 Incompatibilities also are reported with chlorpromazine hydrochloride injections containing chlorocresol. Admixture of morphine sulfate (1 mg/mL), doxorubicin in doxorubicin hydrochloride... 

Prochlorperazine Edisylate Prochlorperazine edisylate is not compatible with sodium chloride solutions containing methyl hydroxybenzoate and propyl hydroxy-benzoate as preservatives, but is compatible with solutions containing benzyl alcohol. Prochlorperazine edisylate salts are incompatible with a number of drugs such as aminophylline, amphotericin, ampicillin sodium, some barbiturates, ben-zylpenicillin salts, calcium gluconate, cefmetazole sodium, cephalothin sodium, chloramphenicol sodium succinate, chlorothiazide sodium, chloramphenicol, morphine sulfate containing phenol, magnesium trisilicate mixture, sodium succinate, chlorothiazide sodium, dimenhydrinate, heparin sodium, hydrocortisone sodium succinate, midazolam hydrochloride, and some sulfonamides.166...

Adults After cyanosis is overcome, atropine sulfate should be used, 2 mg i.v. Doses should be repeated at 5-10 min intervals until signs of atropin-ization appear. This should be maintained for 24 h or longer if necessary. 2-PAM (pralidoxime chloride) should be given. Adult dose 1 g, slowly, intravenously. Contraindicated are morphine, aminophylline, theophylline, phenothiazine tranquilizers, and barbiturates.
