Automated information processing

Application of stand-alone model data subsets restricts possibilities for human-human, human-procedure and procedure-procedure communications, automated information processing, and evaluation of model descriptions. It is time consuming and there is a constant risk of losing important information. The handling of the effects of change of a data subset on other data subsets is complicated. Consequently, consistency of a comprehensive product model is not easy to evaluate. Modeling by stand-alone data subsets cannot be considered as advanced. [Pg.223]

By exploiting the automated information processing capability of the dedicated computer in the FTIR system much of the routine analj s of spectra series produced in rheo-optical measurements has been alleviated. In this respect BASIC software was developed for the evaluation and representation of the spectroscopic data in terms of various parameters ... [Pg.3]

A relevant citation not only provides the needed content, that is, data and information, it also contains clues to find other relevant citations. The author(s) may have published other relevant articles that can be found with an author search. Future authors publishing on this same topic may have cited this article in their own publication. Science Citation Index provides cited reference searching. The citation can be used as a Rosetta stone to determine the appropriate index term(s) for each bibliographical database searched. Some databases now offer a search command, find related articles, that automates this process. [Pg.786]

Hence, for modern FRET and FLIM techniques in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry it is important to keep the enthusiasm for the in situ technique, yielding unprecedented rich information on molecular states in live cells, and to keep the advantages of easy labeling techniques, modern microscopes and automated data processing. However, we need to educate the new generations of FRET scientists in the theoretical background of the technique, how it should be done correctly, and what the sources of errors are. Only then it will be clear that FRET-(FLIM) is a very direct, robust, extremely sensitive, and reliable technique. [Pg.10]

The taste sensor will be applicable for quality control in food industry and help automation of the production. The sense of taste is vague and largely depends on subjective factors of human feelings. If we compare the standard index measured by means of the taste sensor with the sensory evaluation, we will be able to assess taste objectively. Moreover, the mechanism of information processing of taste in the brain as well as the reception at taste cells will also be clarified by developing a taste sensor which has output similar to that of the biological gustatory system. [Pg.399]

The instructions embedded in computer program(s) either provide information on what the operators are supposed to do, or information on how the equipment or processes are intended to function. For example, for manufacturing operations, the batch production and control records may provide procedures, controls, instructions, specifications, and precautions to be followed when using computer systems. These programs may also contain control data for product formulation, batch size, yields, and automated in-process sampling/testing procedures. [Pg.147]

LIMS is therefore an extremely important component of analytical automation, providing laboratories with the means to automate the process of information creation and then a means of distributing the information to managers and clients, so that the appropriate decisions can be made. [Pg.105]

Each form should be entered into a computerized database linking forms with voucher numbers. The data entry program can mimic the exart format of the form, with drop-down menus for multiple-choice responses, and it can perform consistency checks as the date is entered. The data entry phase can provide an additional opportunity to detect transfer of vouchers to indirect beneficiaries. Comparing names and surnames with those recorded at the time of distribution can be a first screen, but variations in spelling and the inclusion or exclusion of middle names can make it difficult to automate this process. If information such as the recipient s date of birth was recorded when the vouchers were distributed, it may be a better first screen for voucher transfer. [Pg.70]

To sum up, high volume document exchanges are required between the trustee and the employer on a regular basis. All these exchanges are concerned with the transfer of information which suggest to automate this process using modern e-commerce technologies. [Pg.17]

Data that are processed for chemical analysis consist essentially of the automated signal obtained from an analytical instrument as the instrument characterizes a sample. The reliability of the data is directly connected to the reliability of the analytical information, and reliability increases with the number of data bits obtained from the analytical instrument. Automation of the analytical instrument is then followed by automated data processing which requires a lengthy time because of its complexity. [Pg.59]

Thus, in the result of automated data processing one can confirm the identity of library components, perform purity assessment based on several independent techniques (UV, MS, ELSD), estimate quantities of compounds, obtain information about side products, etc. The results may be presented using tabular output, which has certain strengths and weaknesses. On one side, a lot of different information about compounds can be captured in one table, such as sample ID, purity, estimated amount of material, etc. the data can be easily sorted and transferred to various databases. An example of tabular output where compounds were sorted based on their average purity is presented in [34], On the other side, the amount of information usually captured in a table is much more than is nec-... [Pg.185]
