A flow diagram of a simple cross-flow system is shown in Figure 16.12. This is the system likely to be used for batch processing or development rigs it is in essence a basic pump recirculation loop. The process feed is concentrated by pumping it from the tank and across the membrane in the module at an appropriate velocity. The partly concentrated retentate is recycled into the tank for further processing while the permeate is stored or discarded as required. In cross-flow filtration applications, product washing is frequently necessary and... [Pg.362]

In carpet shampoos sulfosuccinates are used as the main ingredient, especially in powdered products. For this application products with a good crystallization behavior like DLAS and DLMS are of greater importance. The amount used is 12-30%. A typical formula is as follows ... [Pg.531]

Chi-Square Distribution For some industrial applications, product uniformity is of primary importance. The sample standard deviation s is most often used to characterize uniformity. In dealing with this problem, the chi-square distribution can be used where %2 = s2/a2) (df). The chi-square distribution is a family of distributions which are defined by the degrees of freedom associated with the sample variance. For most applications, df is equal to the sample size minus 1. [Pg.76]

Unexpected adverse drug reaction An adverse reaction, the nature or severity of which is not consistent with the applicable product information (e.g., investigator s brochure for an unapproved investigational medicinal product). [Pg.772]

The pigment also lends itself to application in elastomers, such as natural rubber blends. It is migration fast enough to satisfy most specifications. P.R.53 1 is also completely bleed resistant in natural rubber, although some color is transferred into the wet cotton cloth liner, the wrapper (Sec. 1.8.3.6). P.R.53 1 is lightfast enough for most applications. Products containing P.R.53 1 are not always entirely fast to hot water or alcohol. [Pg.321]

While fast atom bombardment (FAB) [66] and TSI [25] built up the basis for a substance-specific analysis of the low-volatile surfactants within the late 1980s and early 1990s, these techniques nowadays have been replaced successfully by the API methods [22], ESI and APCI, and matrix assisted laser desorption ionisation (MALDI). In the analyses of anionic surfactants, the negative ionisation mode can be applied in FIA-MS and LC-MS providing a more selective determination for these types of compounds than other analytical approaches. Application of positive ionisation to anionics of ethoxylate type compounds led to the abstraction of the anionic moiety in the molecule while the alkyl or alkylaryl ethoxylate moiety is ionised in the form of AE or APEO ions. Identification of most anionic surfactants by MS-MS was observed to be more complicated than the identification of non-ionic surfactants. Product ion spectra often suffer from a reduced number of negative product ions and, in addition, product ions that are observed are less characteristic than positively generated product ions of non-ionics. The most important obstacle in the identification and quantification of surfactants and their metabolites, however, is the lack of commercially available standards. The problems with identification will be aggravated by an absence of universally applicable product ion libraries. [Pg.376]

The popularity of commercial programs such as Comparative Molecular Field Analysis (4,12) (CoMFA) and Catalyst (13) has limited both the evaluation and use of other QSAR methodologies. Often well-known issues associated with CoMFA and Catalyst have come to be viewed as shortcomings that simply are accepted as working limitations in a 3D-QSAR analysis. In this section we challenge this position and present 3D- and nD-QSAR methods that are able to overcome some of the issues associated with current mainstream 3D-QSAR application products. [Pg.134]

Purified myrcene has minimal use in flavor and fragrance applications. Production and cost figures for cmde myrcene from p-pinene are not published to avoid disclosure of individual company operations, but the production volume is large ( 30,000 t). [Pg.416]

It should, however, be pointed out that - where applicable - product composition can be significantly different. For example, whereas thiazolium catalysts afford exclusively dihydroxyacetone with formaldehyde as substrate, the triazolium systems afford glycolic aldehyde (plus glyceraldehyde and C4 and C5 sugars as secondary products) [246], Catalyst-dependent differences in the relative rates of the partial reactions within the catalytic cycle (Scheme 6.105) most probably account for this phenomenon. A subsequent study by Enders et al. on chiral triazolium salts identified the derivative 233 as a first catalyst for the asymmetric benzoin condensation that affords substantial enantiomeric excesses (up to 86%) with satisfactory chemical yields (Table 6.3) [247]. [Pg.230]
