Anhydrous ammonium oxalate is obtained when the monohydrate is dehydrated at 65°C. The monohydrate is a colorless crystal or white powder, and dissolves in water at 0°C up to 2.17 wt %, and 50°C up to 9.63 wt %. It is slightly soluble in alcohol and insoluble in ether. It is used for textiles, leather tanning, and precipitation of rare-earth elements. [Pg.462]

Stannous Oxalate. Stannous oxalate, Sn(C20 (mol wt 206.71, dec 280°C, sp gr 3.56 at 18°C), is a white crystalline powder, is soluble in hot concentrated hydrochloric acid and mixtures of oxaHc acid and ammonium oxalate, and is insoluble in water, toluene, ethyl acetate, dioctyl phthalate, THF, isomeric heptanes, and acetone (171). Plant material fractionation. The detailed steps of isolation and separation of oligosaccharide fractions were described earlier [10]. Pectin was separated by boiling the cell walls in 0.5 M ammonium-oxalate buffer, pH 5.2 at 100 C for Ih. The dialyzed solution of pectin was hydrolyzed with 0.15M HCl for 3h at 100 C. Hot water-extractable B and ammonium oxalate/oxalic acid-extractable Mo in 200 Egyptian arid soils ranged from 0.39-3.42 mg/kg and 0.030-0.395 mg/kg, respectively. DTPA-extractable Zn and Mn were from 0.377-11.93 and 7.28-51.87 mg/kg, respectively. EDTA-extractable Cu varied from 3.25-34.32 mg/kg. The average bioavailable B, Mo, Zn, Mn and Cu was 1.216, 15.02, 15.6, 0.185 and 1.53 mg/kg, respectively. These soils were sampled from both wheat and maize fields.
