Modras (51) reported spot test reactions to differentiate hydralazine from closely related drugs. Reagents used were aqueous copper (I) chloride, aqueous ammonium molybdate, iodine in potassium iodide solution, aqueous cobalt (II) nitrate, alcoholic ninhydrin, and alcoholic bromophenol blue. The tests were performed on paper or on Silica Gel G. [Pg.304]

Procedure (determination of inorganic phosphate (a) in the acetic acid extract). The 8-hydroxyquinoline forms a precipitate in acidic ammonium molybdate solution, which will interfere unless the aliquot is <5 ml. It should therefore be removed by ignition as follows. Transfer 10 ml acetic acid extract to a 45-ml silica basin, add 0.5 ml 1 M magnesium acetate and evaporate to dryness on a water-bath. (Note do not use magnesium nitrate, which reacts adversely on heating with 8-hydroxyquinoline.)... [Pg.195]

Test for phosphorus. The presence of phosphorus may be indicated by a smell of phosphine during the sodium fusion and the immediate production of a jet-black colour when a piece of filter paper moistened with silver nitrate solution is placed over the mouth of the ignition tube after the sample has been dropped on the hot sodium. Treat 1.0ml of the fusion solution with 3ml of concentrated nitric acid and boil for 1 minute. Cool and add an equal volume of ammonium molybdate reagent (3). Warm the mixture to 40-50 °C, and allow to stand. If phosphorus is present, a yellow crystalline precipitate of ammonium 12-molybdophosphate, (NH4)3[PMo12C>4o], will separate. [Pg.1209]

Ammonium molybdate reagent may be prepared by dissolving 45 g of pure ammonium molybdate in a mixture of 40 ml of aqueous ammonia (d 0.88) and 60 ml of water and then adding 120 g of ammonium nitrate and diluting the solution to 1 litre with water. [Pg.1210]

Catalyst Preparation. The catalysts were prepared by impregnation of -alumina extrudates ( SA=253 m /g ). Each impregnation was followed by drying overnight at 120°C and calcination at the indicated temperatures during one hour. Molybdenum was brought on the support as an ammonium molybdate solution cobalt and nickel as nitrate solutions. Each component was impregnated separately. [Pg.156]

Phthalic anhyride (148 g) and ammonium molybdate (1 g) are added with stirring to a hot mixture (110-120°C) of urea (300 g), ammonium nitrate (160 g), and nitrobenzene (100 mL). The mixture is heated gradually (3-4 hr) up to 165-170°C and this temperature is maintained for 15 hr. Thereafter, the mixture is heated to 180-190°C and maintained at this temperature for 2 hr with stirring. After cooling to 60°C, methanol (250 mL) is added. The solid is filtered at reduced pressure, washed with methanol, and dried in air. Yield of 1,3-D-HN03 (1,3-di-iminoisoindoline nitrate) 198 g (95%) [30]. [Pg.391]

Iron and steel are dissolved in 1 1 nitric acid, the solution evaporated to dryness and the residue taken up with concentrated hydrochloric acid until all the silica is rendered insoluble. The solution containing the phosphoric and hydrochloric acids is evaporated to dryness once more to get rid of the latter acid, and the residue then taken up with nitric acid and ammonium nitrate solution and precipitated with ammonium molybdate. [Pg.30]

Neutral solutions of orthophosphates yield with silver nitrate TS (0.1 N) a yellow precipitate, which is soluble in 1.7 N nitric acid or in 6 N ammonium hydroxide. With ammonium molybdate TS, a yellow precipitate, which is soluble in 6 N ammonium hydroxide, is formed. [Pg.860]

Acidify the soda extract with dilute hydrochloric acid, pass in sulphur dioxide to reduce the arsenate to arsenite, boil off the excess sulphur dioxide (test with potassium dichromate paper), and pass hydrogen sulphide into the solution to precipitate the arsenic as arsenic(III) sulphide continue the passage of hydrogen sulphide until no more precipitate forms. Filter, boil off the hydrogen sulphide, and test the filtrate for phosphate by the ammonium molybdate test or with the magnesium nitrate reagent. [Pg.387]
