The first major federal regulatory event affecting natural gas pipelines was the Natural Gas Act of 1938, which gave the Federal Power Commission jurisdiction to regulate three areas (1) pipeline sales of gas purchased from producers and resold to local distribution companies in interstate commerce (2) transportation m interstate commerce and (3) the facilities used for such sales and such transportation. 

Wellhead Pricing With passage of the Natural Gas Wellhead Decontrol Act of 1989, all remaining wellhead price controls on natural gas were lifted. As a result, federally mandated natural gas wellhead prices no longer exist. With this, the competitive marketplace has become the most important factor affecting natural gas wellhead prices, along with weather, demand, pricing of competitive fuels and competition for supplies. 

Natural resources affect people and people affect natural resources. Many qualities or attributes of nature are customarily described as "natural resources" - soils, climate, plants, minerals, and others. But these are not really resources for human welfare until appropriate amounts of human energy, resourcefulness, capital, and managerial capacity have been applied to these qualities of nature, to transform them into materials and services usable by people.

Parasitic plants often use chemicals released by their host plant to stimulate seed germination, to locate the host, or for haustorial development. Many different compounds are involved, including strigolactones, quinones, coumarins, flavonoids, and other phenolics. Flavonoids contribute to signaling in some species but not others. Haustorial development in Triphysaria versicolor can be induced in vitro by the anthocyanidins petunidin, cyanidin, pelargonidin, delphinidin, as well as their glycosides obtained from the host plant.Anthocyanins are not usually found in root exudates, however, and thus the mechanism by which they affect natural signals for parasitic plants in the soil is not clear. 

In addition to the damage acid rain causes to structures, acid rain also affects natural environments. Significant loss of spruce forests due to the burning of spruce needles by acid rain has occurred in Scandinavia. Acid rain also extracts a heavy toll on aquatic systems and associated organisms. Most adult fish cannot tolerate pHs much lower than 5.0, and even the most tolerant species will not survive below a pH of 4.0. Fish larvae are even more susceptible to low pH levels. Reversion - The softening of vulcanized rubber when it is heated too long or exposed to elevated temperatures. It is a deterioration in physical properties, (extreme reversion may result in tackiness.) This most commonly affects natural rubber linings. 

Mechanical erosion is influenced by temperature differences, plant roots, wind, water and glaciers. In his essay, then, Dickerson does not say scientific evidence has shown that the supernatural has never affected nature (for those concerned about the definition of supernatural, substitute higher intelligence. Rather, he argues that in principle, science should not invoke it. The clear implication is that it should not be invoked whether it is true or not. The fourth and most powerful reason for science s reluctance to embrace a theory of intelligent design is also based on philosophical considerations. Many people, including many important and well-respected scientists, just don t want there to be anything beyond nature. They don t want a supernatural being to affect nature, no matter how brief or constructive the interaction may have been. In other words, like young-earth creationists, they bring an a priori philosophical commitment to their science that restricts what kinds of explanations they will accept about the physical world. Sometimes this leads to rather odd behavior.
