Geographical features

The Memorandum is published to help local authorities and industry to derive an approximate height for chimneys. It is stated that the Memorandum should not be used as an absolute criterion but merely as a guide. Valleys, hills and other geographical features will modify the height as derived from the Memorandum.

Selection of sites was directed to the analysis of the influence of different facilities and/or activities that a priori could affect natural animal populations from the river. Most lists of emotions exclude the esthetic emotions, Pugh (1977) being an exception. Yet how can one otherwise account for the universality of art and music (see also Dissayanake, 1988 Eibl-Eibesfeldt, 1989) Various animals seem to have a preference for certain geographical features such a tendency would be adaptive in guiding nomadic species to appropriate habitats, just as humans everywhere seem to perfer savannah-like terrain for their parks. The appeal of ideal features of babies or mates might also be included under this emotion, but perhaps placed elsewhere. 

Retiring abroad can have advantages. Among them are the opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture, and see and experience the historic and geographic features of the country. You might find that it is cheaper to live abroad than in the U.S.

On July 21, 1998 the United States Board on Geographic Names recognized Drs. McClintock and Baker by naming geographic features after them on the north (McClintock Point) and south (Baker Point) sides of Explorers Cove, New Harbor, McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. This honor was bestowed upon them to recognize their extensive contributions to Antarctic marine biology and chemical ecology. 

AHj/AH% < 0.3, the make hole, then jump in model makes sense. It makes less sense if AH /AHh > 0.3. Holes are there, all right, but they could be simply geographic features of the structure.

Familiarize yourself with the types of homes, geological and geographic features, and factors such as industries in your area. As a class, decide where each group will place its detector. Obtain permission to test for radon from those who own or live in the home you wish to test. 

Carefully analyze the class data, looking for correlations between the radon levels and factors such as geological and geographic features, proximity to industrial sites, style of home, and materials used in...
