Shampoos have been prepared in various forms, and have included systems that are thick and thin, clear and opaque, pourable Hquids, soflds, gels, pastes, powders, flakes, and aerosol types. In many cases, shampoos have been prepared and directed for various hair types, eg, normal, dry, damaged, and color treated. Most marketed shampoos (ca 1993) are primarily clear Hquid and opaque lotion types gel and paste forms also are available. Aerosol shampoos are available to the consumer however, their impact on the market has been limited to the dry shampoo aerosol. [Pg.448]

Aerosol Shampoos. These shampoos constitute a very small percentage of the market. They have been available in two versions, ie, Hquid foam types and dry spray forms. The Hquid foam type, despite its convenience and appealing appearance, did not attain high general use. Factors involved in its low acceptabiHty include not only higher product cost but also serious stabiHty issues with can corrosion. [Pg.449]

Aerosol dry shampoos fill an important market for those unable to tolerate wet hair, such as the sick and infirm. These products are based on oil absorbing powders which include talc, starch, and/or clay. They can be sprayed onto hair and then bmshed off after absorbing soils from the hair. [Pg.449]

Animals exposed to volatile pulmonary agents do not require decontamination. If low volatility agent aerosols have been released, animals can be decontaminated with shampoo/soap and water (see Section 10.5.3). If the animals eyes have been exposed to the agent, they should be irrigated with water or saline solution for a minimum of 30 minutes. [Pg.267]

Direct Exposure In the event that an individual is at the scene of a known or suspected attack (e.g., white-powder letter, aerosol release, etc.), have them wash their hands and face thoroughly with antimicrobial soap and water as soon as possible. If antimicrobial soap is not available, use any available soap or shampoo. They should also blow their nose to remove any agent particles that may have been captured by nasal mucous. Remove all clothing and seal in a plastic bag. To avoid further exposure of the head, neck, and face to the agent, cut off potentially contaminated clothing that must be pulled over the head. Shower using copious amounts of antimicrobial soap (if available) and water. Ensure that the hair has been washed and rinsed to remove potentially trapped agent. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that individuals use bleach or other disinfectants on their skin. [Pg.496]
