Paracetamol acetylsalicylic acid

This experiment focuses on developing an HPLG separation capable of distinguishing acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, salicylamide, caffeine, and phenacetin. A Gjg column and UV detection are used to obtain chromatograms. Solvent parameters used to optimize the separation include the pH of the buffered aqueous mobile phase, the %v/v methanol added to the aqueous mobile phase, and the use of tetrabutylammonium phosphate as an ion-pairing reagent. [Pg.612]

The results showed that the compounds studied with more frequency in the aquatic environment, and of which, logically, there is more information, are the antibiotics, analgesics and anti-inflammatories (like diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, acetylsalicylic acid, and paracetamol), as well as the p-blocker atenolol. In the category of antibiotics, several families are included, like the macrolides (erythromycin), the fluoroquinolones (ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin), sulfonamides (sulfamethoxazole), penicillins (amoxicillin), the metronidazol, and trimethoprim. Other therapeutic groups also widely studied and frequently found in the environmental waters are the lipid regulators (gemfibrozil and bezafibrat), antiepileptic carbamaze-pine, and antidepressants (diazepam, fluoxetine, paroxetine) (see Table 3). [Pg.213]

Recommended antipyretics are paracetamol, acetylsalicylic acid and short acting NSAIDs to adults. Children under the age of 18 should not be treated with acetylsalicylic acid due to an increased risk of Reye s syndrome in viral infections. [Pg.499]

Following the development of the test, an in-house validation was conducted to evaluate the performance of FETAX compared to the results in the rat and/or rabbit. Thirteen reference chemicals were tested including eight compounds known to be teratogenic in rats and/or rabbits (caffeine, retinoic acid, hydroxyurea, ethanol, cyclophosphamide, nicotine, acetylsalicylic acid, dexametha-sone) and five non-teratogens (isoniazid, saccharin, paracetamol, penicillin G, sildenafil). The estimation of teratogenicity in rats and rabbits was based on published data (9). [Pg.408]

The analgesic drugs paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid at normal clinical doses had no acute effect on toxicokinetics of toluene inhaled at 300 mg/m (Lbf el al., 1990b) similarly, neither carbohydrate diets nor the consumption of 47 g ethanol as wine on the evening before exposure to 200 mg/m- toluene for 2 h had any effect on toluene kinetics (Hjelm et al., 1994). [Pg.840]

Analgesic efficacy and clinical use Dextropropoxyphene (Grover, 1988) is a moderately potent opioid analgesic often combined with paracetamol or acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs (Collins et al., 2000). As the hydrochloride or napsylate it is used orally for the treatment of mild, moderate, or severe pain (Beaver, 1984). [Pg.183]

Dosages and routes of administration Oxycodone is given by mouth in single doses of 5-10 mg or as controlled release preparations with doses of 40 mg (Cairns, 2001). Rectal administration is also possible. Oral formulations often contain combinations with paracetamol or acetylsalicylic acid. [Pg.215]

Bose and coworkers have performed known chemical processes in various kitchen microwave devices to explore microwave chemistry at a larger scale [33]. Representative examples for multigram-scale synthesis without optimization of reaction conditions have been presented, such as the rapid preparation of 500-800 g of acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin). Another valuable pharmaceutical compound, Tylenol (acetaminophen, paracetamol), could be... [Pg.261]

Merckle and Kovar reported an assay of effervescent tablets (intact and powdered) by NIRS in transmittance and reflectance modes. Results of quantitative determination of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and ASA in combination with ascorbic acid and/or paracetamol were comparable in both transmittance and reflectance modes. Corti and associates described a NIR transmittance analysis of coated tablets, using both whole and milled tablets. [Pg.3636]

A century after its introduction, acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) is by far the most commonly used analgesic, sharing its leading position with the relative newcomer paracetamol (acetaminophen), and notwithstanding the fact that other widely used compounds of their class, like ibuprofen and naproxen, have in recent years been introduced in over-the-counter versions. Both are also still being prescribed by physicians and are generally used for mild to moderate pain, fever associated with... [Pg.15]

In an investigation of Canadian donors who had not admitted to drug intake, 6-7% of the blood samples taken were found to have detectable concentrations of acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol (1). Such drugs would be potentially capable of causing untoward reactions in the recipients. [Pg.15]

The FDA has announced its intention to require alcohol warnings on all over-the-counter pain medications that contain acetylsalicylic acid, salicylates, paracetamol, ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen. The proposed warnings are aimed at alerting consumers to the specific risks incurred from heavy alcohol consumption and its interaction with analgesics. For products... [Pg.24]

A 72-year-old man developed a generalized maculo-papular rash 12 hours after taking co-codamol (codeine 10 mg plus paracetamol 500 mg) (8). The lesions persisted for 7 days, became scaly, and disappeared. He later reported a similar skin condition after having taken a combination of acetylsalicylic acid, codeine, and caffeine. Patch tests gave a positive result for codeine, suggesting a type IV allergic reaction. [Pg.881]

Until 1999, there was no time limit for evaluations and registrations. In general, registration of a priority application (advised by a Nationeil Medical Bocird or, for cheap generics, by the National Insurance Administration) leisted 7 to 17 months while that of a multivitamin, paracetamol or acetylsalicylic acid combination (with which the market is full) lasted for 4.5 to 5 years. The average registration time for a non-priority medicine was 2.5 to 3 years. [Pg.193]
