Utility location

Installations of communications equipment under the exclusive control of communications utilities located outdoors or in building spaces used exclusively for such installations. 

Once the C02 is captured and compressed, it needs to be transported to the sequestration or utilization locations, unless the capture and sequestration processes are located at the same site. A C02 transportation infrastructure could be done with a rather conventional approach. On land, pipelines for long-distance C02 transport already exist. For example, a pipeline system more than 500 mi. long connects C02 fields in Southern Colorado to oil fields in West Texas. The C02 is purchased at about 15/ton for tertiary oil recovery. The cost of C02 transportation is a function of distance, whereas the costs of pipeline construction vary significantly by region (Doctor et al., 1997). The construction and operation of pipelines for ocean would be quite different from land-based pipelines. Generally, C02 is transported at supercritical pressures (-2000 psi). If C02 is sequestered at geological formations, the transferred C02 may require additional compression at the injection site depending on the specifics of the reservoir (Doctor et al., 1997). 

Given the information provided from the minimum utility cost target (i.e., loads of hot and cold utilities, location of pinch points, and hence subnetworks), determine for each subnetwork the minimum number of matches (i.e., pairs of hot and cold process streams, pairs of hot utilities and cold process streams, pairs of cold utilities and hot process streams, and pairs of hot-hot or cold-cold process streams exchanging heat), as well as the heat load of each match. 

Given the information provided by the minimum utility cost calculation (i.e., minimum loads of hot and cold utilities, location of pinch point(s)) determine the following ... 

PANELIST SCHMID We have been looking primarily at the utility markets and especially at the utilities located in metropolitan areas, such as the East Coast and the West Coast, where the restrictions on sulfur emissions are very stringent. And we see that there is a definite market here, and from our studies we feel that this is one of the earliest markets that will be viable and that we can predict will be there. 

Developing a biological CO2 fixation system for culture ponds in salty water based on the treatment of flue gas from town s utility located on the Black Sea coast would provide the opportunity of using the algae crop as additional fuel to the power station. Advantages are offered by the significant solar radiation that provides a notable daily rate of CO2 fixation. 

Utilities Locate building unit heaters and associated piping external to building. Provide remote shutoff for electrical service. 

Utilities locations should avoid creating hazards. For example, gas lines should not be near rail lines or public or employee areas. Shutoff locations should avoid locations where the utilities might create hazards. Shutoff controls should be accessible to emergency crews even during incidents. Power and other utility lines should have protection from vehicle damage. Utilities, such as water, should be sufficient for emergency needs. Supply mains must effectively service use points in the facdity.

Stake out the area to be excavated using marker flags. However, do not disturb the markings made by the underground utility locating service.

History. Public Service of Indiana (PSI) is a major electric utility located in the state of Indiana. PSI is severely impacted by the SO2 reduction provisions of the Clean Air Act Amendment (CAAA) of 1990 due to it s large use of local high sulfur Indiana coals in older coal-fired units with no existing SO controls. However, there are special provisions in the CAAA for coal gasification repowerin. These provisions are discussed in detail in the Environmental Aspects, Section 4, of this report. Briefly, coal gasification repowering extends the Phase I SO2 emission allowances to the end of 1999 for the specific units repowered. The much lower Phase II allowances do not become effective until the end of 2003 for the specific units repowered. 

The timeframe for excavation marking is usually specified by State damage prevention laws. Twenty States require underground facility marking to be accomplished within 48 hours of excavation notification. Construction work planning is not evenly distributed throughout the week consequently, one-call centers may schedule three or four times the number of locates for some days compared to other days. This, in turn, creates variable workloads for utility locators.
