A more sophisticated form of reduction is obtained when the so-called center manifold theorem is invoked. This says essentially that a subspace of lower dimension than the whole state-space gives a true representation of the essential features of the system and one that can be built on to give a yet more accurate picture. We shall not attempt to go into this here to see the method in action, the reader cannot do better than to read C. Chang and... [Pg.27]

Which channels should be addressed or integrated From stores to mailing to web access to call centers there is a variety of options, and the prioritization should be clear. Most companies address channels that are new or underperforming in order to create early success stories before addressing the key channels. [Pg.307]

The outer two surface plies are called faces (often one surface ply will be called the face and the other surface the back). The innermost ply is called core in a three-ply configuration. Other layers are called centers and in some cases crossbands. [Pg.278]

IT-Enabled Services (ITES) The portion of the Information Technology industry focused on providing business services, such as call centers, insurance claims processing and medical records transcription, by utilizing the power of IT, especially the Internet. Most ITES functions are considered to be back-office procedures. Also, see Business Process Outsourcing (BPO). ... [Pg.19]

The concept of eHealth began with the need to provide and support care from a distance. Call centers were an example of a solution. The basic function of call centers is to provide information or services at a distance, a concept used in many industries. To date, many types of call centers are used in the health care industry. The following are examples related to pharmacy ... [Pg.449]

This assessment needs to be based on a detailed customer database which will be used across all the different channels, such as the direct sales force, call center, or website, and which allows each customer or potential customer to be managed individually across all the contact points he may choose. This very detailed information can then be used to support the sales force much more intensively than before. As a consequence, the sales force s approach and its success (or lack of it) will become much more transparent. Moreover, the function will also become much stronger, since it will have a much deeper understanding of its customers and will be able to offer those customers not just a product, but a convincing solution. [Pg.170]

When assembling your scorecard for your new design, keep in mind how data will be collected and reported for your performance indicators. Actual, observed indicator values may be sourced from specific test runs, data collected from usage in the field, customer satisfaction records, call center logs, and so on. [Pg.233]

Discrete event simulation is performed often in the banking and call center industries—or any industry that processes resources through a system at unpredictable flow rates with a large variation in volume. [Pg.249]

The readout of the cathode plane is somewhat more complicated, since the induced signals extend over several elements. The determination of the position of the avalanche is done by the so-called center of cluster method. The thresholds of the discriminators are chosen such that the induced signal of several cathode wires switches them (see Fig. 13). Two priority encoder systems are connected to the cathode plane in opposite directions. Priority encoders produce the address of the highest numbered input element which receives a signal. Since the systems are connected in opposite directions, system A will deliver the address of the higher numbered cathode wire whose signal is above the threshold value. System B gives the address of the lower wire. [Pg.79]

The other crystal lattices can be generated by adding to some of the above-defined cells extra high-symmetry points by the so-called centering method. TableB.2 shows the new systems added to the simple crystal lattices (noted s, or P, for primitive) and the numbers of lattice points in each conventional unit cell. The body-centred lattices are noted be or I (for German Innenzentrierte), the face-centred, fc or F, and the side-centred or base-centred lattices are noted C (an extra atom at the Centre of the base). These 14 lattice systems are known as the Bravais lattices (noted here BLs). A representation of their unit cells can be found in the textbook by Kittel [7]. [Pg.433]

Figure 9.1. No offsets. Raw data (shown upper left) are simulated UV-Vis spectra of samples containing one analyte. To the right, the same spectral data are shown using ordinary centering subtracting the column means (called centering across the first mode). As shown in the lower scatter plots of concentration versus wavelength 348 nm the quantitative relation to the concentration of the analyte is retained by centering. Figure 9.1. No offsets. Proper centering means that averages are subtracted from columns of the array. Such centering is called centering across a mode. [Pg.228]

Other workers in this field were critical of the concept put forward by A. Kiselev and Zhdanov. Sidorov (Leningrad State University) (151, 153), in infrared spectroscopic studies of water adsorption at a low degree of coverage, had observed that the intensity of the absorption band due to the free surface OH groups (voh = 3750 cm-1) remained unchanged. Similar experiments were carried out by other researchers. It was concluded by Sidorov and by V. Kiselev and co-workers (Moscow State University, Physics Department) (164-166) that the initially free H2O molecules are adsorbed not on OH group sites but on more active centers that they called centers of the Il-type. [Pg.615]
