When shipped, every compressed gas must be marked and labeled in accordance with the applicable regulations. Hazard labels are designed in accordance with United Nations standards and take the form of a diamond square-on-point. They use colors, symbols, and class numbers as the warning mechanisms. Patent laws provide for several stages in the life of an application for a patent on an invention. The pattern followed by patent laws in effect in most industrialized countries during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and still in effect in the United States in 1995, calls for the examination of all patent appHcations to certify that the claimed invention meets the national standards for novelty, usehilness, and inventiveness. The owner of the technology to be patented files appHcation papers that include a specification containing a description of the invention to be patented (called the disclosure) and claims defining the limits of the invention to be protected by the patent, a formal request for the issuance of a patent, and fees. Drawings of devices and apparatuses, electrical circuits, flow charts, etc, are an important part of the disclosures of most nonchemical and many chemical patents. 

Cui et al. performed similar analyses to fhose of Dupuis and co-workers. The side chain-side chain radial disfribufion functions (RDFs) reported by Cui et al. show remarkable qualitative deviation from fhose in Zhou et al. i It is of note that the united atom approach used by Cui and co-workers ignored electrostatic interactions between CP2 groups of the polymeric backbone. This can lead to a poor description of fhe hydrated structure in the regions close to the polymeric backbones, unlike the all-atom force field used in Zhou et al. ° For the sake of limited computational resources, Cui et al. used a relatively short representation of Nation ionomer chains consisting of three monomers as compared to the ten monomers used by Vishnyakov and Neimark or Urata et al. It can be expected that structural correlations will strongly depend on this choice.

There are many infectious disease surveillance systems currently in use, operating from the local to international levels (WHO, 1998). In the United States, the CDC has the primary role in overseeing national-level surveillance and prevention/control activities related to infectious diseases (CDC, 1998). The CDC has oversight of an array of infectious disease surveillance systems, a few of which have been mentioned in previous sections.
