For descriptions of the exact procedures for the application of HACCP to mycotoxin prevention, and case studies involving application, see Pineiro et al. (2001), sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Agency for Atomic Energy (IAEA) through their joint FAO/IAEA Training and Reference Centre for Food and Pesticide Control. [Pg.233]

A detailed description of how Operation Purple developed, its activities and the results achieved in phase I are presented in the 1999 report of the Board on the implementation of article 12 of the 1988 Convention (United Nations publication. Sales No. E.00.XI.3). The activities undertaken during the initial stages of phase II are presented in the 2000 report of the Board on the implementation of article 12 (United Nations publication. Sales No. E.01.X1.4). The objectives of the operation, the procedural details and its results can further be found in the report on phase I of the operation prepared by the Steering Committee. [Pg.26]

Today, reference to the PP can be found in several international agreements and declarations. However, the description of the PP that has had the greatest impact can be found in the Rio Declaration from the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, and the Swedish government repeatedly referred to it when it proposed the Unified Environmental Code of 1998 to the Parliament. Documents and publications of UNESCO are listed and indexed in United Nations Documents Index, A description of the documentation system used therein appears in Vol. 2, No. 1, January 1951. These documents may be consulted in depository libraries selected by UNESCO, a list of which can be obtained on request, or purchased individually. All documents intended for distribution to the public may be received on a blanket annual subscription for 30, placed with International Documents Service, Division of Columbia University Press. 2960 Broadway, New York 27, N. When shipped, every compressed gas must be marked and labeled in accordance with the applicable regulations. Hazard labels are designed in accordance with United Nations standards and take the form of a diamond square-on-point. They use colors, symbols, and class numbers as the warning mechanisms. In the United States, descriptive text to communicate the hazard of the compressed gas is optional. See 49 CFR 172.405 [1]. The UN class number, 2 for compressed gases, is shown in the lower point of the label reflecting the primary hazard. The hazard... [Pg.44]

Patent laws provide for several stages in the life of an application for a patent on an invention. The pattern followed by patent laws in effect in most industrialized countries during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and still in effect in the United States in 1995, calls for the examination of all patent appHcations to certify that the claimed invention meets the national standards for novelty, usehilness, and inventiveness. The owner of the technology to be patented files appHcation papers that include a specification containing a description of the invention to be patented (called the disclosure) and claims defining the limits of the invention to be protected by the patent, a formal request for the issuance of a patent, and fees. Drawings of devices and apparatuses, electrical circuits, flow charts, etc, are an important part of the disclosures of most nonchemical and many chemical patents. [Pg.43]

Cui et al. performed similar analyses to fhose of Dupuis and co-workers. The side chain-side chain radial disfribufion functions (RDFs) reported by Cui et al. show remarkable qualitative deviation from fhose in Zhou et al. i It is of note that the united atom approach used by Cui and co-workers ignored electrostatic interactions between CP2 groups of the polymeric backbone. This can lead to a poor description of fhe hydrated structure in the regions close to the polymeric backbones, unlike the all-atom force field used in Zhou et al. ° For the sake of limited computational resources, Cui et al. used a relatively short representation of Nation ionomer chains consisting of three monomers as compared to the ten monomers used by Vishnyakov and Neimark or Urata et al. It can be expected that structural correlations will strongly depend on this choice. [Pg.361]

Certain commercial equipment, instruments, or materials are identified in this handbook in order to provide an adequate description. Such identification does not imply recommendation or endorsement by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the City University of New York, or Georgetown University, nor does it imply that the materials or equipment identified are necessarily the best available for the purpose. The authors, publishers, and their respective institutions are not responsible for the use of which this handbook is made. Occasional use is made of non-SI units, in order to conform to the standard and accepted practice in modern analytical chemistry. [Pg.2]

There are many infectious disease surveillance systems currently in use, operating from the local to international levels (WHO, 1998). In the United States, the CDC has the primary role in overseeing national-level surveillance and prevention/control activities related to infectious diseases (CDC, 1998). The CDC has oversight of an array of infectious disease surveillance systems, a few of which have been mentioned in previous sections. A complete listing and description of these surveillance systems is available on the CDC Web site. Several components are described in the following. [Pg.391]
