Chelating agents such as triethanolamine borate also behave as latent catalysts at elevated temperatures. Other boron-containing compounds, cadmium or zinc bromide dieth-ylenetriamine, and salts of aluminum acetoacetic ester have also been suggested as curing agents for high-temperature epoxy adhesives. [Pg.302]

Synthesis of organized mesoporous aluminas is based on the same approaches as those successfully used for the synthesis of mesoporous molecular sieves ( anionic , cationic , and neutral ) using aluminum alkoxide as the source of aluminum and in the absence of any silicon source. In contrast to the synthesis of siliceous MCM-41, the cationic route to organized mesoporous aluminas using hexadecyltrimethylammonium cations is the least applied and understood. Cabrera et al. [68] described the possibility to tailor the pore dimensions from 3.3 to 6.0 nm by modifying the ratio of surfactant, water and triethanolamine however, this synthesis route seems to be less reproducible compared with anionic and neutral routes. [Pg.121]

The aluminum interference with the indicator is removed by adding triethanolamine NfCHjCHjOH),. Manganese interferes, but it is usually present is such small amounts that no attempt is made to remove it. [Pg.610]

Aluminum isopropoxide is fused at 150-160 C with an equimolar quantity of triethanolamine. The solidified melt is reorystallized from dioxane, yielding an adduct of Al(0CsH4)3N containing one mole of dioxane. Then the adduct is heated for a considerable time at 140°C, dioxane splits off and the solvent-free product is obtained. [Pg.835]

In the presence of butylamine, the magnesium hydroxyquinoline complex will form a new chloroform soluble complex, apparently of the composition CH3(CH2)3NH3[Mg(Ox)3], which gives the organic phase a yellow coloration. To further mask interfering cations triethanolamine is added to bind them in the water phase as ion pairs. The most important interfering ion masked by this procedure is aluminum. [Pg.121]

If the glass contains lead and/or barium oxide, the glass should be treated with a mixture of hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids and the insoluble lead and barium sulfates filtered off before the titration. Lead may also be precipitated with hydrogen sulfide. Small amounts of aluminum and iron may be masked with triethanolamine. Greater amounts of aluminum and iron must be preseparated by precipitation as their hydrated oxides in the procedure for gravimetric determination of alumina. If the content of iron oxide, alumina, and titania is large, they can be separated using a 25% solution of urotropin. [Pg.2028]

An accelerator reduces the porosity of the concrete [10] and improves the bond of the fiber to the cement. Typical accelerators are triethanolamine, used at 0.06% w/w of cement, or 0.5% potassium aluminum sulphate (A1K(S04)2) plus Na2S04 at 0.5% w/w of cement. [Pg.585]

The photocatalytic activity of Ti02-montmorillonite in the reduction of with oxidation of triethanolamine (261) and the oxidation of several aliphatic alcohols have also been reported (259). The photodegradation of dichloro-methane, which is not readily degraded or hydrolyzed in an aquatic environment, to hydrochloric acid and carbon dioxide using titanium-exchanged montmorillonite, titania-pillared montmorillonite, and titanium-aluminum polymeric cation pillared montmorillonite has been reported (261). [Pg.254]

The ability of triethanolamine to complex to aluminum has been shown to result in an increase in the effective Si/Al ratio in solution, and thus the formation of crystals of higher Si/Al ratio 115]. As the amount of triethanolamine which was added to a zeolite A mixture was gradually increased from 30 up to 70 wt.-%, the product changed from pure zeolite A to a mixture of zeolites A... [Pg.131]

Aluminum speciation in zeolite synthesis mixtures containing triethanolamine and several other organic compounds has been investigated using Al NMR [28]. It was demonstrated that all aluminum in sodium aluminate solutions containing an excess of triethanolamine was present in complexed form, probably with tetrahedral symmetry. Virtually no tetrahydroxy aluminate ions were observed by NMR, even when the solution was heated to a typical reaction... [Pg.138]

Kushi and Handa (68) described in 1985 a TLC/MS method for the analysis of lipids. Secondary ion mass spectrometry with a liquid matrix of triethanolamine was used for the extraction and ionization of sample spots first located with iodine or Coomassie brilliant blue staining. A piece of TLC plate of size 5 x 20 mm could be attached to the direct insertion probe, and scanning in one-dimension was accomplished by manually inserting the probe into the source of the mass spectrometer. Spectra could be obtained from one microgram of a lipid separated on a silica TLC plate with aluminum- or plastic-backed TLC plates. Although not specifically noted in this paper, since a plastic-backed plate is an electrical insulator, some provision for connecting the surface to the plate platform itself must be made to hold the surface at the source potential. [Pg.260]

TRIETHANOLAMINE. NfCH - CHj - OH),. In laboratory tests, alloy 2017 was resistant to triethanolamine at ambient temperature while triethanolamine was corrosive to 3003 alloy at 204 C (400 F) and under refluxing conditions. Aqueous solutions were very corrosive to aluminum alloys at ambient temperature. Triethanolamine has been stored and transported in aluminum allov tanks. See also Ref (Dp. 146. (2) p. 862.
