Triethanolamine salicylate

Other salicylates used as sunscreens are 4-isopropylbenzyl salicylate, and triethanolamine salicylate, which goes by the trade name Tro-lamine Salicylate. [Pg.10]

Trolamine (triethanolamine salicylate, TEAS) is a salicylate derivative, which is also known as topical aspirin . It is an amino alcohol that is used for its topical analgesic and antiinflammatory properties. Like the better-known salicylate derivative, methyl salicylate - which has a rubefacient action used to good effect in sports injuries and rheumatism - TEAS is rapidly absorbed through normal skin after topical application. It is used widely for treating sunburn. [Pg.24]

Treating petroleum oils with 3-5% calcium alkyl salicylate and 0.5-3% triethanolamine salts of phosphoric acid esters and ethoxylated dodecyl alcohol increases oxidation-thermal stability at 180-200°C in the manufacture of oil for metal parts quenching. The agent provides also short-term anticorrosion protection of the hardened articles [261]. Phosphoric acid salt alkyl esters are used in anticorrosives and aqueous dispersions in waterborne polyester coatings for metals [244]. [Pg.608]

Essentially, all primary skin irritants include acids, alkalis, metals, salts, and solvents. Among organic acids one may include acetic acid, acrylic acid, carbolic acid, chloroacetic acid, formic acid, lactic acid, oxalic acid, and salicylic acid. Among inorganic acids one may list arsenious acid, chromic acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, phosphoric acid, and sulfuric acid. Alkalis include butylamines, ethylamines, ethanolamines, methylamines, propylamines, and triethanolamine. One also may include ammonium carbonate, ammonium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, calcium cyanamide, calcium hydroxide, calcium oxide, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate (soda ash), sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), and sodium silicate. [Pg.387]

Salicylamide. Salicylanttde. M-hydroxybenzumide. is a derivative of salicylic acid that has been known for almost a century. It is readily prepared from salicyl chloride and ammonia. The compound occurs as a nearly odorless, white crystalline powder. It is fairly stable to heat. light, and moisture. It is slightly soluble in water (1 500) soluble in hot water, alcohol (1 15). and propylene glycol and sparingly soluble in chloroform and ether. It is freely. soluble in solutions of alkalies. In alkaline solution with sodium carbonate or triethanolamine, decomposition takes place, resulting in a yellow to red precipitate. [Pg.756]

Hydroxy carboxylic Acids The hydroxycarboxylic acids have hydroxyl (OH) and carboxyl (COOH) groups attached to a carbon chain. Glnconic, citric, tartaric, mucic, malic, salicylic, heptonic, saccharic, and tannic acids can be nsed as retarding and retarding water reducing admixtures. For use as normal WRA they are mixed with accelerating admixtures [23]. Hydroxycarboxylic acid-based WRA are mostly used as aqueous solutions of sodium salt. However, they may occasionally be found as salts of ammonia or triethanolamine. [Pg.139]

Some combination between zinc oxide and salicylic acid may occur in the presence of moisture and low results are obtained if the salicylic acid is titrated directly. Mitchell recommends extraction of the salicylic acid with ether after acidification and titrating after evaporation of the solvent. The zinc oxide may be determined by direct ignition on the aqueous solution remaining after extraction of salicyclic acid, by method (i) above or complexometrically by the method given for Dusting-powder of Alum and Zinc for Infants, omitting the addition of triethanolamine. [Pg.696]
