Transportation risk management framework

Contents Indude legal and regulatory framework, alternative modes for transportation, employee training, relationship between shippers and carriers, safety in shipping, exemptions from transportation requirements, enforcement proceedings, risk management, radioactive materials, and waste transport... [Pg.138]

The identification of hazardous material transportation scenarios stems from the identification and prioritization step of the TRM framework presented in Chapter 1. This process results in the generation of a hst of activities and transportation scenarios that may require special attention, including additional resources for further risk analysis and risk management activities. [Pg.39]

Plan—development of a system (e.g., TRM Framework) for managing transportation risks, and includes periodic review and update of the management system, as needed... [Pg.165]

Each Gen-lV system requires challenging R D projects some are common to all whereas others are specific to the system. For example, the list of Gen-lV safety crosscut items comprises system optimization and safety assessment methodology, emergency planning methods, licensing and regulatory framework, radionuclide transport and dose assessment, and human factors. Additional R D areas of common interest are proposed as instrumentation and control, human machine interface, reactor physics and thermal-hydraulics, risk management, operation and maintenance. [Pg.255]

In this section, we present a framework for calculating the disruption risk score of each facility and each transportation link based on three main factors hazard, vulnerability, and risk management practice, and their attributes, as shown in Figure 7.1. Interested readers can refer to Kungwalsong (2013) for more detail on disruption risk assessment. [Pg.193]

This chapter presented a disruption risk assessment method for managing the supply disruptions in a global supply chain. The assessment can help practitioners to quantify risks in their supply chains based on hazards, vulnerability, and risk management practices. The disruption risk scores of suppliers facilities and transportation links can lead a company to proactively manage its suppliers. They then can use the disruption risk matrix to visualize the relative risk of all idenfified hazards. We presented a case study of a global distribution company to illustrate the application of this framework in assessing disruption risks for facilities and transportation links. This framework can be used to develop a company disruption risk profile, which in turn can be used to identify the critical network components that are prone to disruptions and to prioritize the risk mitigation activities. [Pg.221]
