Trans-European Network

EC (2007). Trans-European Networks - Towards an Integrated Approach. [Pg.595]

Following the accession of eight Central and Eastern Europe countries to the EU in 2004 and of Bulgaria and Romania in 2007, the chemical industry associations continued their close cooperation with CEFIC on several fronts. The trans-European network of chemical associations continued to promote the Responsible Care program, resulting in a growing number of enterprises across the region that adopted and implemented... [Pg.277]

Besides the critical measures mentioned above, it has to be kept in mind that other community activities have counterproductive effects on air quality. The European Single Market has fostered growth of mobility, with side effects. The objective of the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T22) is to make traffic efficient and safe, but it has been shown that they bring about additional traffic with negative ecological consequences. [Pg.25]

The ChemLeg program, in turn, focused on closer cooperation between policy makers, industry experts and national federations to facilitate the implementation of these standards. The main indicators of achievement were the enlargement of CEFIC with new full and associate CEFIC members representing nine of the ten Central and Eastern Europe states that subsequently joined the European Union the creation of an influential regional network of chemical industry and active involvement in European advocacy on the part of federations from Central and Eastern Europe (Doktor 2002). The political dynamics of trans-European industry mobilisation, organisation at the domestic and European level, and alliances with supranational and domestic policy elites and experts developed in full swing and in support of the horizontal diffusion of EU chemical safety policies and norms. [Pg.277]

Worth mentioning is also the wider trans-European collaboration which exists in the area of reactor safety research through many bilateral and Community programmes which are described in the Joint Safety Research Index (FP-4 concerted action JSRI). These RTD programmes are also described in the homepage http //www-is.ike.uni-stuttgart.de/sinter developed by the R D Network on Safety-Related Innovative Nuclear Reactor Technology (FP-4 project SINTER). [Pg.19]

The expected safety level is defined by European and national regulations and guidelines, e.g. the EU directive on minimum safety level for tunnels in the trans-European road network (EP 2004) and the Norwegian national guidelines (NPRA 2006). The above-mentioned regulations do apply to both new and existing tunnels with the intention to secure... [Pg.959]

The Council of the European Union, 2004, DIRECTIVE 2004/54/EC OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 29 April 2004 on minimum safely requirements for tunnels in the Trans-European Road Network . [Pg.2176]

A European Directive currently being finalised is intended to formalise the Road Safety Audit process throughout Europe and will include training and qualifications for auditors. The Directive will mean that all member states will have to adopt, into their own legislation, methods to carry out road safety engineering work including Road Safety Audits on the Trans European Road Network. The Directive will also recommend the adoption of these methods on all other roads in the member states. [Pg.138]

The EU Directive on Road Infrastructure Safety Management, published in 2008, requires aU EU member states to carry out Road Safety Audits on projects on the Trans-European Road Network (TERN). This has led many European coimtries to devise appropriate procedures, to introduce training schemes for Road Safety Auditors and to carry out Road Safety Audits on their highway improvement schemes. [Pg.5]

The European Directive on Road Infrastructure Safety Management (EU, 2008) requires that all EU member states not only undertake Road Safety Audits on new road schemes but also engage in three other road safety engineering functions on the Trans-European Road Network ... [Pg.174]
