Tinctures homeopathic

Pellets Small spheres of sucrose saturated with an alcoholic tincture, primarily used in homeopathic medicine. Echinacea is regulated as a dietary supplement in the United States (40). The Homeopathic Mother tincture is a Class C over-the-counter drug official in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (41), Official Compendium (1992). E. angustifolia powdered and powdered extract, E. pallida powdered and powdered extract, E. purpurea root, powdered root extract, and powdered extract have monographs for their identity, quality, and other... 

In homeopathy (see the discussion of this type of medicine in chapter 4), a dilute alcohol/water extract is used as a base for preparing other medicines. This preparation is called the mother tincture and it is made in a 1 10 dilution with the fresh ripe berries. The directions for its manufacture in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia are as follows ... 

This makes 1000 cubic centimeters of tincture. Dosage of the mother tincture is 1 to 60 drops. Homeopathic medicine also uses this tincture in dilutions of 3 times and higher. 

From a homeopathic view this is not advisable unless the spagyric tincture is one that will treat a specific weakness or ailment. When choosing a herb for this work, be sure that you choose the right one. A homeopath should be able to help you there through diagnosis of your physical, mental and emotional health. 

It is inexpensive and a reliable alternative and better for most of the things for which echinacea is wrongly prescribed. The homeopathic tincture (6x) has been found in human trials to be exceptionally effective in the treatment of colds and flus. During the nineteenth century, few farmhouses did not have bundles of boneset hung from the rafters for use at the first onset of chills and fever. 

Despite the general trends, a small percentage of homeopathic medicines actually have such recommendations. In specific cases, these uses mirst be supported by tests on patients in the same way as for standard drugs. Many of these exceptional homeopathic drags share the characteristics contained in their mother tinctures or their low dilutions, e.g. D1 potentized solutions (tenfold dilution). There is often more than one active ingredient in such solutions, and the labels also include information about possible side effects. 

Moench, . angustifolia DC. and . pallida (Nutt.) Nutt. Preparations are either prepared from the roots (mainly from . angustifolia and . pallida but also from . purpurea) from the aerial parts ( . purpurea) or from the whole plant (homeopathic tinctures of . angustifolia and . pallida). 

Giger et al. [51] investigated the fructan content of Echinacea purpurea and found that the aerial parts contained ten times less than the roots and that homeopathic tinctures contained fructans with polymerization grades up to 15. It has been suggested to standardize Echinacea purpurea fresh plant preparations on the content of P-l,2-fructofuranosides [128]. The method is based on enzymatic hydrolysis of the fructans by invertase and subsequent determination of fructose by HPLC. An ethanolic extract (T.IO) of the dried aerial parts of E. purpurea stimulated carbon clearance in NMRI-mice by 40% when applied per os at a dose of 5 mg/kg b.w. daily for two days. The lipophilic fraction was even more potent (110% stimulation) while the polar fraction was less active (30%). A similar or even higher effect (110% stimulation) was achieved when a homeopathic mother tincture (prepared from fresh aerial parts) was applied at a dose of 0.17 ml/kg b.w. daily [55]. 

The effect of a topically applied homeopathic combination of the mother tinctures of Echinacea angustifolia Ledum palustrae and Urica mens on erythema and itching after mosquito bites has been investigated in three rigorous placebo-controlled trials [31-33]. Again, the results show a trend in favour of the Echinacea combination, but statisical significance is reached for some symptoms only and the clinical relevance is unclear.
