Mother tincture

There is a sufficient degree of dilution to guarantee the safety of the medicinal product (not more than one in 10000 of the mother tincture or 1/lOOth of the smallest dose requiring a medical prescription for an allopathic medicinal product). [Pg.162]

Mother tinctures are diluted with aqueous ethanol in succession. The mother tincture is mixed with its diluent medium (aqueous ethanol) in two proportions by volume, 1 99 and 1 9. Potencies prepared in 1 99 and 1 9 proportions are called centesimal and decimal, respectively. The centesimal scale was introduced by Hahnemann and the decimal scale by Constantine Hering during the lifetime of Hahnemann. [Pg.5]

Potencies prepared by sonication for 30s or 5 min at every step have been mentioned. Iodine 29 was prepared without succussion but by UV radiation at every step. Some potencies were degassed for lh to remove dissolved oxygen. All other potencies were prepared by manual succussion. All the drugs including mother tinctures were in 90% ethanol. [Pg.47]

For products which contain less than one part per 10,000 of the mother tincture source extract or less than 1/ 100th of the smallest dose used in allopathy with regard to active principles, the complete documentation required for the registration of medicinal products shall be submitted. [Pg.85]

Echinacea is regulated as a dietary supplement in the United States (40). The Homeopathic Mother tincture is a Class C over-the-counter drug official in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (41), Official Compendium (1992). E. angustifolia powdered and powdered extract, E. pallida powdered and powdered extract, E. purpurea root, powdered root extract, and powdered extract have monographs for their identity, quality, and other... [Pg.106]

A preparation of P. sidoides mother tincture is marketed in the Ukraine, Russia and Latvia as Umkalor. A further preparation - meanwhile registered under the Traditional Herbal Products Directive - is available in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (82). Various liquid and solid... [Pg.298]

In homeopathy (see the discussion of this type of medicine in chapter 4), a dilute alcohol/water extract is used as a base for preparing other medicines. This preparation is called the mother tincture and it is made in a 1 10 dilution with the fresh ripe berries. The directions for its manufacture in the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia are as follows ... [Pg.30]

This makes 1000 cubic centimeters of tincture. Dosage of the mother tincture is 1 to 60 drops. Homeopathic medicine also uses this tincture in dilutions of 3 times and higher. [Pg.30]

Despite the general trends, a small percentage of homeopathic medicines actually have such recommendations. In specific cases, these uses mirst be supported by tests on patients in the same way as for standard drugs. Many of these exceptional homeopathic drags share the characteristics contained in their mother tinctures or their low dilutions, e.g. D1 potentized solutions (tenfold dilution). There is often more than one active ingredient in such solutions, and the labels also include information about possible side effects. [Pg.146]

By flow cytometric analysis, phagocytosis of flourescent labelled latex particles by human PMNs was measured in vitro after 30 min preincubation with different concentrations of a . angustifolia ( . pallida ) mother tincture. At a concentration of 10 % a maximal stimulation of 29.5% was observed [64]. [Pg.51]

In an in vivo study with mice, which received per os or i.p. a lyophilisate of . angustifolia ( . pallida ) mother tincture (2.5, 25 or 250 mg/kg b.w.), no influence on carbon clearance was observed [65]. However, the identity of the mother tincture is not clear and the preparation seems to have been void of active lipophilic constituents. Therefore, the results need also to be reconfirmed. [Pg.51]

When 0.1 ml/kg b.w. . angustifolia (Echinacea pallida ) mother tincture was applied per os to normal leghorn (HNL) chicken, 5-9 days after application 32% elevated IgG (day 7) and IgA (day 9) levels were found. The IgM value was increased by only 8% (day 7). A dose of 0.4 ml/kg b.w. only enhanced the IgA level... [Pg.51]

An ethanolic extract (T.IO) of the dried aerial parts of E. purpurea stimulated carbon clearance in NMRI-mice by 40% when applied per os at a dose of 5 mg/kg b.w. daily for two days. The lipophilic fraction was even more potent (110% stimulation) while the polar fraction was less active (30%). A similar or even higher effect (110% stimulation) was achieved when a homeopathic mother tincture (prepared from fresh aerial parts) was applied at a dose of 0.17 ml/kg b.w. daily [55]. [Pg.73]

The effect of a topically applied homeopathic combination of the mother tinctures of Echinacea angustifolia Ledum palustrae and Urica mens on erythema and itching after mosquito bites has been investigated in three rigorous placebo-controlled trials [31-33]. Again, the results show a trend in favour of the Echinacea combination, but statisical significance is reached for some symptoms only and the clinical relevance is unclear. [Pg.114]
