Clark s next step formed the basis of receptor theory by applying chemical laws to systems of infinitely greater complexity [4]. It is interesting to note the scientific atmosphere in which Clark published these ideas. Zimbabwe has mles regarding the practice of traditional medicine, but not for registration of traditional medicinal products. In future, however, the Medicines control agency can be expected to exert some control over this category of product. In Cypms, there are no legislative provisions for herbal, dietary or homeopathic medicines, but some herbal medicines are registered as allopathic medicines. 

There are fewer data on the frequency of medication use during lactation. Use does appear to be common. A recent Dutch study reported that 53% of all breast-feeding mothers had taken a medication, herb, or supplement (exclusive of iron, vitamins, and homeopathic remedies).5 Furthermore, more women in the United States are now abiding by the recommendation to breast-feed. It is now estimated that up to 50% of United States women breast-feed for at least a short time.6... 

Complementary and alternative medicine therapies, such as acupuncture, biofeedback, chiropractic manipulation, dietary supplements, herbal therapy, and homeopathic preparations, are used by individuals with allergic rhinitis.29,30 Use of bromelain, gingko, ginseng, licorice, quercetin, and Urtica dioica has been reported, but large-scale studies documenting efficacy are lacking.31,32 Caregivers should inquire routinely about patients use of alternative therapies and counsel patients about the lack of validated data to support such practices.12... 

Complementary and alternative medicines A group of practices and products that are not presently considered to be part of conventional medicine, including alternative medical systems (e.g., homeopathic medicine and naturopathic medicine), mind-body interventions (e.g., meditation and mental healing), biologically-based therapies (e.g., dietary supplements, vitamins, herbs, and other natural products), manipulative body-based methods (e.g., acupuncture and massage), and energy therapies (e.g., therapeutic touch and bioelectromagnetic-based therapies). 

Elder is also used therapeutically as a homeopathic medicine. It was introduced by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in 1819. The Sambucus ebulus or S. nigra species is most often used. However, it is not one of the more widely used homeopathic medicines. As a homeopathic remedy, elder is known as sambucus. Some of the indications for sambucus include albuminuria (the presence of protein in the urine), angina pectoris, asthma, dizziness and headache upon arising, dry larynx and lumbago.

The few homeopathic products which were tested against GIN in sheep and cattle were based on plants and were not associated with a decrease in the worm burdens or faecal egg counts. However, considering the basic principles of homeopathy, it is likely that this approach reacts via modulation of the host s immune system (Cabaret et al., 2002). The use of non-classical parameters for assessing an antiparasitic effect should therefore be considered in future studies of homeopathy. 

Ayton s correspondence mentions Thomas W. Wilson (a founding member of the Horns Temple of the Golden Dawn at Bradford, and a chemist in York), and often involves discussions of homeopathic cures. Howe notes that during the 1890s the membership of the Golden Dawn included at least half a dozen qualified physicians who were homeopaths (Howe in Ayton 1985, 35). 

Mark s family has had more trouble accepting my illness. His mother and sister both are nurses who received conventional training. To them, clinical ecologists and little vials of homeopathic remedies seem crazy. 

Early in his career Bernard developed a mystery illness after a flu-like episode, and wound up seeing a series of doctors before the mystery was finally solved at the London Homeopathic Hospital. There he was diagnosed with an allergy to wheat. By eliminating wheat from his diet he enjoyed perfect health for almost a decade.
