Ultrasensitive assays for PSA contribute to the earlier detection of prostate cancer relapse and (or) residual disease in prostatectomized patients as well as the more timely evaluation of response to current therapies. PSA determinations can be useful in detecting metastatic or persistent disease in patients following surgical or medical treatment of prostate cancer. Persistent elevation of PSA following treatment, or an increase in the pretreatment PSA concentrations, is indicative of recurrent or residual disease. Hence, PSA is widely accepted as an aid in the management of prostate cancer patients, and serum levels are most useful when sequential values are obtained and monitored over time. After complete removal of the prostate gland (radical prostatectomy), PSA levels should become very low or undetectable. A rise of the serum PSA level in prostatectomy patients indicates residual prostate tissue, recurrence, or metastasis of the disease (13, 16, 24, 36).

It is an optical biosensor, and the interactions can be detected by SPR angle shift or reflection light intensity. Support of unknown policies. It should be possible to account for policies which may be not completely known or even be specified and enforced in external systems. These policies are like blackboxes for which no (complete) specification is provided, but that can be queried at access control time. Think, for instance, of a situation where given accesses are subject, in addition to other policies, to a policy P enforcing central administration approval . Neither the description of P, nor the specific accesses that it allows might be available whereas P can respond yes or no to each specific request. Run-time evaluation is therefore the only possible option for P. In the context of a more complex and complete policy including P as a component, the specification could be partially compiled, leaving only P (and its possible consequences) to be evaluated at run time. 

An important aspect of external QC performed via ILC participation is that the laboratory is assured of the confidentiality of its identity and that of the other participating laboratories. The laboratory is identified only by a code number, which is shown in the report. It is recommended that laboratories take part in a number of ILCs in this way, they will be able to monitor their performance over time, evaluate trends, and take corrective action when needed. 

As stated above (see Chapter II.B), LII signals also contain information about the size distribution. To compare the influence of different plasma powers on primary particle diameters, different ways of size evaluation have been accomplished. It could be shown by assuming a monodisperse distribution that the mean primary particle diameter is 31 nm for 30 kW and 33 nm for 70 kW. Having proved the synthetic utility of their system, the authors subsequently evaluated a second supported base, 4-dimethylaminopyridine (AO-DMAP) 118, toward the acylation of 2° alcohols (Scheme 30). Employing a premixed solution of phenyl-l-ethanol 119, Et3N 14 and acetic anhydride 37 (0.33, 0.50, and 0.50 M) in hexane, reactions were conducted at room temperature and the effect of residence time evaluated (10-50 s). Using a 60 cm packed bed, the authors were able to obtain near quantitative conversions to 120 employing residence times <20 s, with flow reactions providing superior results to those obtained in analogous batch reactions.

The success of a particular analytical or preparative HPLC strategy with polypeptides or proteins is predicated by the ease of resolving to a predefined level the desired component from other substances, many of which may exhibit similar separation selectivities but are usually present at different abundance levels. For high-resolution purification procedures to be carried out efficiently, it is self-evident that rapid, multistage, high-recovery methods must be utilized. To minimize losses and improve productivity, on-line, real-time evaluation of each of the recovery stages is an essential objective. Furthermore, overall optimization and automation of the individual unit operations must be achieved. Similar criteria but with different endpoints apply in high-resolution analytical application. 

The textual presentation should agree with the tabular data in the document in turn, the tabular data should agree with the data source (which agrees with the case report form and other clinical documentation). This is critical to the scientific merit of the submission. When lack of agreement between in-text data and source documents is found, the entire submission may be suspect, and the reviewer will be inclined to spend much more time evaluating the raw data to be sure of the conclusions. 

Conversely, in scientific articles, barriers have been most of the time evaluated as independent self-supported films.
