Interpretation of the impedance signal for set 2 (imaginary part function of the probe position along the slot)... [Pg.146]

The CamuS system consists of a number of components, both hardware and software, as shown in Figure 1. The hub of the system is the data acquisition unit, which collects and stores ultrasonic data in the form of RF waveforms. An accurate probe position monitor provides information on the location and orientation of the probe as it is scanned over the test object. Software tools have been developed to provide assistance to the user with preparing inspection procedures according to the requirements of prEN1714 with visualising the data, in relation to the test object with making measurements of any indications present and with classifying indications. [Pg.765]

The status bar displays information about the current status of the acquisition system the position of each of the four axes of the probe position monitor the maximum amplitude of the signal within the gate for both the coupling channel and the signal (flaw detection) channel and the current operating mode of the system, which may be record-... [Pg.768]

Ultrasonic reflections out of the weld volume are documented in a top and side view together with the area of weld volume scanned. A new coupling monitoring system ensures 100% coupling reliability. Furthermore the systems does not require any mechanics to monitor the probe position as the position data is monitored by airborne sound sensors. [Pg.774]

The control of the airborne sound location system, the coupling monitor and the real-time evaluation of all signals, including the echo indications from the ultrasonic instrument, is carried out on two additional boards in the PC. The graphic user interface (under Windows 95), including online help, enables an easy operation of the system. The evaluation program links all echo indications in real time with the probe position and displays them in a graphic repre-... [Pg.775]

A mechanics-free airborne sound location system is used in order to record the probe movement and the rotation direction of the probe relative to the weld. Two airborne sound transmitters are arranged on the probe holder and two receivers are fixed on a 50 cm long rail equipped with two magnetic pads The exact probe position and rotation direction is continuously determined by system. [Pg.776]

The exact position of reflectors within the weld volume is calculated by means of the known probe position plus weld geometry and transferred to a true-to-scale representation of the weld (top view and side view). Repeated scanning of the same zone only overwrites the stored indications in cases where they reach a higher echo amplitude. The scanning movement of the probe is recorded in the sketch at the top, however, only if the coupling is adequate and the probe is situated within the permissible rotation angle. [Pg.777]

CO) may contain elastic (co = 0) and inelastic (co 0) parts. Elastic scattering probes correlations of atomic positions at long times, whereas the inelastic scattering process probes position correlations as a function of time. [Pg.245]

These are available for steam raising up to 3600 kg/h and manufacture is to two designs. The smaller units are element boilers with evaporation less than 500 kg/h. In these, an immersed electric element heats the water and a set of water-level probes positioned above the element controls the water level being interconnected to the feedwater pump and the element electrical supply. [Pg.349]

The reaction was followed by the local measurement of chloride ions, at a potentio-metric Ag/AgCl microelectrode probe, positioned in the aqueous receptor phase, as DCE droplets containing TPMCl were grown (feeder phase). The reaction was shown unambiguously to occur interfacially, and was first-order in TPMCl with a hydrolysis rate constant of 6.5 x 10 cms. A typical concentration-distance profile determined in these experiments is shown in Fig. 18. [Pg.352]

The technique consists of a microdialysis probe, a thin hollow tube made of a semi-permeable membrane usually around 200-500 /xm in diameter, which is implanted into the skin and perfused with a receiver solution that recovers the unbound permeant from the local area. In principle, the driving force of dialysis is the concentration gradient existing between two compartments separated by a semi-permeable membrane. For skin under in vivo conditions, these compartments represent the dermal or subcutaneous extracellular fluid (depending on the probe position) and an artificial physiological solution inside the probe [36-38],... [Pg.10]

Aseptic BPS machines are subject to steam-in-place sterilization following standard CIP cycles. The SIP cycles are routinely measured by thermocouples located in fixed positions along the product pathway. Validation of SIP cycles should be carried out to demonstrate that consistent sterilization temperatures are achieved throughout the equipment to prove that the system can be effectively sterilized. Validation should also identify suitable positions for routine use, or justify the fixed probe positions already in place. The SIP validation is generally carried out with the help of additional thermocouples and should include the use of biological indicators (appropriate for moist heat sterilization). Test locations should include areas which may be prone to air or condensate entrapment. An accurate engineering line drawing of the system to aid identification of suitable test locations and document test locations selected should be available. [Pg.6]

The kinetics of AgGl dissolution in aqueous solutions without supporting electrolyte have been studied utilizing well-defined and high mass transport properties of the scanning electrochemical microscope [376]. An ultramicroelectrode probe positioned close to the AgGl surface was used to induce and monitor dissolution of the salt via reduction of Ag+ from the initially saturated solution. [Pg.945]

Support the anemometer sensor probe with a suitable stand. The use of a stand will prevent errors resulting from disruption of the unidirectional air flow that can be caused by the body or arm if the probe is hand-held. Orient the probe perpendicular to the velocity flow vector to be measured. Probe positions for air flow velocity testing are the designated grid test locations, at the work zone entrance plane. All test positions should be within unobstructed, unidirectional air flow. [Pg.168]
