In this chapter we have looked at the results of published clinical trials of antidepressant medication. The published studies showed a significant, but surprisingly small, effect of antidepressants over placebos. But as I noted at the beginning of the chapter, those data represented only the beginning. As I later discovered, there were also studies that had been withheld from publication. These unpublished studies were clinical trials that did not show a significant benefit for drugs over placebo medication - trials that the drug companies withheld... [Pg.21]

These unpublished findings of the writers indicate that acetyl glutamate is not an absolute requirement for the synthesis of acetyl-P or formyl-P, and they render unlikely the possibility that an acetic or formic acid derivative of acetyl glutamate may be involved. The new findings are represented by Reactions 9 and 10. [Pg.166]

Once the need is established, the problem arises as to where to look for these unpublished data. The principal clues are scientific meetings, published literature, and personal contacts, and the main sources are the individual chemist s notebook, typed or mimeographed material having limited circulation, and theses and dissertations which are buried in the libraries of the institutions at which they were written. Many chemists have the misconception that unpublished data consist entirely of material that is unavailable for reasons of national security or will later be used in obtaining patents and is therefore being kept confidential. This discussion is limited to the types that are available. [Pg.113]

Subchronic studies of the dearomatized petroleum streams in rats were conducted on C9-C12 and C10-C13 dearomatized aliphatic mixtures containing branched, straight, and cyclic alkanes, and a Cn-C17 isoparaffinic solvent containing branched and cyclic alkanes. Two of these studies reported male rat nephropathy. All three studies reported hepatic effects including hepatocellular hypertrophy and increased liver weight. Developmental toxicity was not seen at the same doses in a study of a similar mixture in rats. These unpublished subchronic studies were used as the basis for RfDs by the TPHCWG (1997c). [Pg.151]

Results from these unpublished theses were mentioned by Weiden-baum and Bonilla (W2). [Pg.247]

The present book would not have existed without the work of my colleague and friend, Ole Krogh Andersen. In fact, large parts of the present monograph are based directly on his notes, and I am extremely grateful to him for allowing me to use these unpublished results. [Pg.5]

Immunohistochemistry also shows that a protein which cross reacts with antibody raised against the cotyledon 62 kD protein exists in leaves. The cross reacting protein is localized primarily in three cell types of the phloem of mature leaves. Studies at the electron microscope level further show that the intra-cellular localization is again exclusively in the outer membrane of the cells. While these unpublished results do not prove that the 62 kD cotyledon protein is a sucrose carrier, they are very encouraging and may prove very useful in studying the developmental regulation of this transport process as well as providing the further tools needed to definitively identify the carrier protein. [Pg.145]

No interaction is established, and the general relevance of these unpublished cases is uncertain. If one subscribes to the view that increased monitoring is necessary when any drug is started or stopped in a patient on warfarin or related drugs, then it would be prudent to monitor prothrombin times with venlafaxine. More study is needed. [Pg.447]

Therefore, the tabular and graphic data contained in this book was either produced in-house or is the result of meticulous research of the literature. For research into the stated parameters, the period from 2000 to 2013 was given priority. However, in the event that no usable data was available from this period, older sources were also used in exceptional cases. Data concerning mechanical/thermal and fracture-mechanical parameters was derived from student research projects, degree dissertations and bachelor, masters and (primarily) doctoral theses. Unpublished parameters from publicly funded scientific projects and industrial research and service contracts were also included. [Pg.32]
