Tetracycline Benzylpenicillin

Aminophylline Aminophylline should not be mixed with acidic drugs, as it becomes precipitated if the pH of the final solution falls below pH 8. Mixture with glucose may increase the pH above 10 where proteins, such as insulin and erythromycin, are unstable. Some drugs that are incompatible with aminophylline include amiodarone, benzylpenicillin potassium, cisatracurium, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, dobutamine, tetracycline hydrochloride, verapamil hydrochloride, warfarin sodium, and vitamin B and C injection. Alcohol-free theophylline should be stored in amber-colored containers maximum care must be taken to protect it against exposure to light.92-94... [Pg.345]

Heparin and its salts are incompatible with many drugs including alteplase, amikacin sulfate, amiodarone hydrochloride, ampicillin sodium, aprotinin, benzylpenicillin potassium or sodium, cephalothin sodium, ciprofloxacin lactate, cytarabine, dacarbazine, daunorubicin hydrochloride, diazepam, dobutamine hydrochloride, doxorubicin hydrochloride, droperidol, erythromycin lactobionate, gentamicin sulfate, haloperidol lactate, hyaluronidase, hydrocortisone sodium succinate, kanamycin sulfate, methicillin sodium, netilmicin sulfate, some opioid analgesics, oxytetracycline hydrochloride, some phenothiazines, polymyxin B sulfate, streptomycin sulfate, tetracycline hydrochloride, tobramycin sulfate, vancomycin hydrochloride, vinblastine sulfate, cisatracurium besylate, labetalol hydrochloride, nicardipine hydrochloride, cefmetazole, sodium ions, and fat emulsion.110 112... [Pg.349]

Choice of antimicrobial follows automatically from the clinical diagnosis because the causative organism is always the same, and is virtually always sensitive to the same drug, e.g. meningococcal septicaemia (benzylpenicillin), some haemolytic streptococcal infections, e.g. scarlet fever, erysipelas (benzylpenicillin), typhus (tetracycline), leprosy (dapsone with rifampicin). [Pg.205]

Primary and secondary syphilis are effectively treated by benzylpenicillin or procaine penicillin i.m. daily for 10-21 days. Tetracycline or erythromycin orally may be used for penicillin-allergic patients. [Pg.248]

Another report about the treatment of pneumococcal meningitis with intramuscular or intravenous penicillin and intravenous tetracyclines (chlo-rtetracycline, oxytetracycUne, tetracycline) confirmed that the mortality was much lower in those given only penicillin, rather than the combination of penicillin and a tetracycline. fri the treatment of scarlet fever (Group A beta-haemolytic streptococci), no difference was seen in the initial response to treatment with penicillin (oral procaine benzylpenicillin) and chlortetracycUne or the penicillin alone, but spontaneous re-in-feetion occurred more frequently in those who had received both antibacterials. ... [Pg.326]
