Terminator type

By the use of suitable shunts, the basic moving-coil movement can be adapted to measure m almost unlimited range of currents. Figure 10.46 illustrates a direct-indicating instrument with shunt, to measure current up to 5 A d.c. To ensure that the resistance of the circuit is not materially altered by the insertion of an ammeter, it is usual to install either a shunt or the meter itself (usually a moving-coil meter with internal shunt) permanently in the circuit. Ammeter shunts are normally of the four-terminal type, to avoid contact resistance errors, i.e. two current terminals and two potential terminals, as shown, in fig. J0.46. [Pg.249]

For the purpose of determining the chain termination type, Figure 5.9 shows the dependence of the methane oxidation rate on the chain initiation rate, which is characterized by the elementary reaction of H202 dissociation (k ) to hydroxyl radicals and described by the following kinetic equation ... [Pg.175]

Figure 28 illustrates the wiring diagram for a simple Wheatstone bridge and thermometer of the four-lead potential terminal type. This method is used mainly for precision measurements in the laboratory. The battery B is first connected to c. As before, when the bridge is balanced we obtain ... [Pg.464]

The terminal-type N2 ligands have strong infrared bands in the range 1930-2230 cm"1 (100-400 cinfL1 —below that of free-N -,-2331 cm" 4,- and -these bands may be used diagnostically. [Pg.710]

To make the Macintosh compatible with MACCS, we use the Versaterm Pro software package, which allows the Macintosh to emulate the Tektronix 4105, one of the acceptable terminal types. By this same package, the Macintosh can emulate the Tektronix 4014 and VT-100, which allow the chemists to use other applications programs, such as SYNLIB for chemical reaction literature and of course, all the standard non-graphics applications such as electronic mail. [Pg.22]

The engineers had formulated requirements as to how the desired adhesive layers should deform under a shear loading. These rules were very unusual because normally, engineers make no requirements at all they just test the adhesives offered by the adhesive company and then report if they are satisfied or not. The adhesive company found it difficult to meet the requirements. The most important characteristics required of the adhesive layer were the flexibility as well as the deformability. Obviously, traditional wood adhesive systems like vinyl acetate or formaldehyde-based adhesives could not be used because they only work in very thin adhesive layers. Furthermore, they are brittle and have virtually no mechanical flexibility. Thus only two technologies were considered as potential candidates polyurethanes (including silane-terminated types) and epoxies. [Pg.122]

A very general box is the four-terminal type with two ports. Figure 8.1(a). This is the box corresponding to the four-electrode systems described in Section 7.10.3 two pickup (PU) electrodes in the electrical field generated by two current-carrying (CC) electrodes. [Pg.255]

In Ref. [33] Decker et al. analyzed the photopolymerization kinetics of polyurethane-acrylate resins using the bimolecular and monomolecular termination models given by equations (4.11) and (4.16). They considered ranges of conversion where the models show linearity and they differentiated three polymerization states with different termination types ... [Pg.142]

The three fully integrated termination models HII ((4.19)-(4.21)) were used to find the termination types during the polymerization of acrylates in polymeric binders [19] and photocuring of acrylated silicones [26, 27], In these studies discussion of the termination mechanism was ba.sed on uncoupled values of the k /kp ratio and k," values obtained for each model. [Pg.143]

When soldering wires to terminals, the lead outline must be visible and good wetting between the wire and terminal must be evident to be acceptable. The wire insulation gap can be near zero if the insulation has not melted into the solder joint. Slight melting of the insulation is acceptable. If the insulation gap is too large and allows potential shorting of wire to an electrically noncommon conductor, the joint is unacceptable. If the wire insulation is severely burned and the melt by-product intrudes into the solder joint, the joint is unacceptable For round post terminals, the contact of wrap must be 180° for Class 3 and 90° for Classes 1 and 2. Most of the other terminal types, such as pierced terminals, require 90° of wire wrap (see Fig. 52.33). [Pg.1233]
