Technical services program

Water treatment technical service representatives must develop relationships with boiler plant operators and managers and formally meet on a periodic basis so that all involved understand what must be achieved and work in concert toward reaching common, agreed-upon objectives. The frequency of meetings depends on the size of the boiler plant, but essentially, informal communications should take place (up and down the line) very regularly, with a formal program review taking place perhaps every three to four months. [Pg.126]

Full-service programs require that the water treatment account representative be part of a larger sales and services and technical support team. When such a team subscribes to quality work standards and environmentally responsible practices, they present a formidable taskforce and a valuable partner to their customers. [Pg.128]

For smaller chemical volume consumers, especially those with little in the way of in-house BW treatment technical skills, the overall program costs can be relatively high. This typically is due to the disproportionately high requirement for on-site technical service time (including the travel time to and from a customer s site) compared to the volumes of chemical treatment sold. Travel and on-site time is expensive. Typically, the cost of labor and technical service is two to three times the cost of the chemical raw materials used to provide treatments. [Pg.995]

As a result of the high costs of technical services, most water treatment vendors employ a variety of methods that allows them to charge an economic rate for the programs they sell. They will negotiate a price with the customer based on providing the most suitable balance of on-site service time and chemical/equipment requirements, that anticipates and resolves problems, meets the customers needs, and relieves his or her pain. ... [Pg.995]

If the study outlined above in paragraph 1 was not conducted during product development, it is recommended that QA and/or the technical services groups imder-take a study to justify the cmrent specifications and the elimination of routine antimicrobial effectiveness testing within the stability program. [Pg.227]

This is not to say that modern corrosion inhibitors are inferior to chromate, but in order to achieve corrosion rates today as low as is commonly available with chromate (<1.0 mpy), programs usually require close control, good technical service, and occasional innovative solutions to problems. [Pg.77]

Low expectations of chemical product performance or technical service, and a perceived high cost of cooling water programs,... [Pg.243]

Buyers should further understand that in most marketplaces, and for most types of cooling water program sold, the labor and technical services element is a higher cost item than the chemical component. Thus, if the prices charged, or the prices sought, are too low, this may also result in the service company seeking to reduce additional expenditure by cutting down on the provision of service time to site. [Pg.249]

In general, most cooling water treatment programs sold today are composed of three key elements, a biocide program, a chemical inhibitor treatment program, and a technical service element. [Pg.303]

Although site surveys, problem assessment, treatment product identification, and program selling services are vital components of the field representative s job, it is the water systems management and the plant site technical support function that are probably considered to be the key areas, from the customer s viewpoint. And it is at the time of a plant upset or a production line malfunction, when the customer is able to confirm (or not, as the case may be) that the expertise and technical service skills made available by the vendor was worth the price paid ... [Pg.315]

The Technical Services function of AOCS establishes, revises, and annually updates AOCS Methods, the Official Methods and Recommenced Practices of the American Oil Chemists Society22 for fats, oils, and soap technology Spanish AOCS Methods, a Spanish translation of the more commonly used AOCS Methods and Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Oils, Fats and Waxes. Leaders of the methods development committees coordinate closely with AOAC International (formerly the Association of Official Analytical Chemists). AOCS Methods are recognized as Official Methods in US FDA activities and when litigation becomes necessary in industry trade. Additionally, the Technical Services function operates a Laboratory Proficiency Program (formerly the Smalley Check Sample Program) and oversees distribution and statistical analysis of 30 different series of basic laboratory quality assur-ance/quality control test samples. Certification as AOCS Approved Chemists, or as AOCS... [Pg.1561]
