Sweden data availability

There is some uncertainty related to scaling up the gasification section of the plant. Bagasse has been gasified in pilot facilities, for example TPS in Sweden, but there is no data available from larger facilities. 

This data collection started out as the Mass Spectrometry Registry under the auspices of Stenhagen and Abrahamsson in Sweden and has grown in recent years out of the work of McLafferty and co-workers. This is the largest of the reference databases of mass spectrometric data which also makes it the largest collection of reference data available in any single field of spectroscopy [6]. The ethos of data inclusion is different in this reference library where multiple entries per compound were included if the spectra were significantly different from one another. Radio-labelled substances were also included.

Sinclair et al. (1998) also addressed the origin of the difference in distribution of mitotypes a and b in northern Europe, northern Erance, Germany, Poland, and southern Sweden for the former, and northern Sweden, Norway, and Einland for the latter. They prefer to view this distribntion as reflecting dual colonizations, one from the south through Denmark and the other from the northeast via Einland. Available data do not allow a resolntion to this problem at the moment. 

Different spectral preprocessing and transformations available in SIMCA P-p (version 10.0, Umetrics, Sweden) were evaluated and the best approach for data handling and manipulation was determined. Data collected on the surrogate tablets were divided into a training set to generate the PLS models, and prediction set to test the PLS models. MCC powder, equilibrated at different RH, was also roller compacted at different roll speeds on a Fitzpatrick IR220 roller compactor fitted with smooth rolls. Powder feed rate and roll pressure were kept constant for all experiments. The key sample attributes measured on the surrogate tablets were also measured for the samples prepared by roller compaction. 

Due to time constraints, only four interviews could be conducted in France but, given the amount of data collected on EU decisionmaking during interviews in Germany, Sweden and the UK and made available by [238], this would probably not compromise the ability to develop a framework for EU decision-making. 

Regardless of solubility or chlorination, the majority of PCBs are associated with the particulate phase. Congener-specific PCB data on suspended particulate matter are available in [128-130]. The data must be complete and identical to that submitted to cmd approved by the relevant authority, except that the raw data of experimental and clinical studies must be excluded. For the examination of novel samples and the initial identification and detection of steroids in complex mixtures, more elaborate techniques are required. Infrared spectra are now less sensitive and less valuable in practice than the use of the mass spectrometer. The direct coupling of the latter to GLC columns pioneered by Ryhage has provided the most powerful and chemically specific research tool now available for steroid research (E2, R6). Although LKB (Sweden) now supplies a good commercial model of the apparatus, this technique is too expensive and needs too much technical backup to be applicable to routine work outside the larger medical centers. Even so, the full exploitation of this technique outside of basic research will probably require the extensive use of automation and electronic data processing. 

Monitoring in the aqnatic systems of Sweden has been going on for abont eight decades, if one considers the first investigative monitoring efforts concerning water chemistry, macrophytes and phytoplankton. The aims of these early studies were to characterise different types of lake and to investigate relationships between water chemistry and species composition of aquatic ecosystems. Even older data are available for fish captures and distribution of species, collected in the interest of food production and for commercial purposes. 

Some of these were considered at AstraZeneca R D Molndal, Sweden, in May 2001, to initiate a data-gathering project centered primarily on the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry (JMC), in collaboration with scientists at the Romanian Academy Institute of Chemistry in Timisoara, Romania. The major goal of this project was to capture chemical structures and the associated biological activities disclosed in the JMC, with an initial goal of 20 000 entries set for the first year. The first version of this database was available at AstraZeneca R D Molndal in May 2002 this version contained 21 700 structures (with duplicates), and 36 738 experimental activities on 324 targets, captured from 837 JMC papers (1996-1999). 

It can be concluded from the studies available (see Table 20.7) that both the flora and fauna are able to take up and accumulate PGM under natural conditions. In the founa, low concentrations of Pt were first detected in earthworms in spot-check samples (Schafer et al. 1998). Subsequently, an analysis of feathers from different raptor species in Sweden revealed an increase of Pd, Pt and Rh between the years 1917 to 1999 (Jensen etal. 2002). Interestingly, the highest levels were found for Pd, reflecting a higher mobility of this element, and these data support results obtained from greenhouse experiments with plants (Schafer 1998 see also Section 20.5).
