Supply shortages

It should also be noted that the demand for primary lithium batteries remains strong, particularly in military applications where there is high demand for lightweight and disposable power supplies for portable electronic devices. In fact, the US General Accounting Office (GAO) has indicated that primary lithium batteries were one of seven items for which supply shortages reduced operational capability and increased risk to [US] troops [3]. 

The rapid shift from an apparent serious growing world oversupply situation, which had been considered permanent, to a very tight sulfur supply and demand situation, with indications of future sulfur supply shortages, resulted in the knowledgeable sulfur experts becoming very concerned and unable to agree on the future availability of sulfur. The lack of consensus continues to the present time. 

As identified by EU, the use of "less secure" supplies lead the gas companies to be worried about any supply shortages, be it technical or political. 

Illustration 4 (next page) allegedly shows victims of mass murder in Auschwitz.16 The bodies are actually those of inmates who had succumbed to typhus in the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen. To date no similar photos have been found of Auschwitz or other sites of alleged mass exterminations. The deliberate misrepresentation of victims of starvation, typhus, supply shortages of all kinds, and unhygienic conditions in the camps of the Third Reich towards the end of the war is thus probably done out of sheer necessity, due to the painful lack of other, real pictures. 

As of 2010, China produced most of the rare earth elements used in high-tech and green (environmentally friendly) industries. Although such elements are found in other countries, including the United States, most nations rely on China to produce them. However, China s own growing demand for such elements raised concern about the potential for a rare earth supply shortage. 

Plans for managing staff and supply shortages During a large outbreak, staff may be absent due to illness in themselves or concern for their family members.

During the 1990s riboflavin market prices were quite constant at 45 and 55 EUR per kg for feed and food applications, respectively. During the last 8 years the prices dropped to less than 20 EUR per kg, primarily due to overcapacities in the market caused by the appearance of Chinese riboflavin producers. However, recently, the riboflavin market sensed supply shortages and the price of the various riboflavin products became highly volatile. 

Military personnel may be questioned for guidance by local civilian authorities or may deal with supply shortages in the field. Knowledge of the U.S. doctrinal decontaminating solutions may not suffice in these situations, and awareness of alternative methods of decontamination will prove very beneficial. What decontamination method is used is not as important as how and when it is used. Chemical agents should be removed as quickly and completely as possible by the best means available.
