Metal ion concentrations in water vary enormously across Europe. The water hardness of the market area can be found fairly easily from water companies hardness maps. Some data on transition metal ion limits and measurements can also be found from water quality data, but even these might not be enough to determine what the consumer uses. Many of the offsite items are designed as packaged plants or systems that are purchased from specialized suppliers. In some cases, the supplier may even offer an over-the fence contract, in which the supplier builds, owns, and operates the offsite plant and contracts to supply the site with the desired utility stream or service. Over-the-fence contracts are widely used for industrial gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen, and most plants also import electricity from the local utility company. Calamus Oil Acorns calamus) An Indian water plant whose roots supply the oil, which has an average of 80% asarone. In 1969, the FDA ruled that asarone was carcinogenic so it was banned for all food uses. Since then, sources for this oil have sometimes looked to alternative origins other than India. Lots of holistic companies prefer to use the calamus oil from Europe and Russia because they contain almost no asarone. I think it s fraudulent to pass off asarone-free calamus oil as the real thing because it s the asarone that makes it what it is. Anyway, that is just a warning to you to make sure your calamus comes from India of which there are still plenty of suppliers. Suppliers and potential suppliers are classified with respect to expected or known compliance with environmental and safety standards. In a first approach, this classification is performed according to their location in OECD countries or non-OECD countries, since the risk of noncompliance with environmental and safety standards is expected to be higher in non-OECD countries (Kranz and Sargasser, 2003). Products/producers assigned a C3 rating represent a potentially high risk and are therefore subjected to a particularly careful check. This means that BASF employees visit the supplier and carry out an EHS assessment to determine whether the supplier s plant operates according to Responsible Care standards.
