First, the most important loads on wind turbine rotor blades are described and a brief review of fatigue research in composites is presented to place the following approach in a broader perspective. The approach described in this paper concerns modification of the existing formulations. Possible modifications are illustrated with predictions for an existing data set, which was generated by subjecting composite specimens to different variable amplitude load sequences. [Pg.563]

Hair Coloring Regulation Issues. In the United States the classification of color additives is complex. Under the Federal Food, Dmg and Cosmetic Act, all cosmetic colors must be the subject of an approved color additive petition to the Food and Dmg Administration there is an exception for coal-tar colorants used to color hair. Based on the composition of these colorants, FDA can require a certification on each manufactured batch of colorant to assure conformance with the approved specifications. In the early 1990s FDA has required certification only for synthetically derived coal-tar type colors. Many of the approved color additives, both certified and noncertified, are restricted ia their potential use. Standardization minimizes disadvantageous diversity, assures acceptabiUty of products, and faciUtates technical communication. Ra.m Tensile. A ram tensile test has been developed to evaluate the bond-2one tensile strength of explosion-bonded composites. The specimen typically has a very short tensile gauge length and is constmcted so as to cause failure at the bonded interface.
